The forty/fifty year olds that play now are the kids of yesterday that were there at the start and have grown up with the Atari, Spectrum, Commodore and such like.
I am 50 years old.
Am I too old for an xbox one or a Playstation 4 ?
No way. Never let other people dictate to you what you should be doing, if it's something you want to do, besides, there is no reason why gaming should be for a particular age group, it is entertainment, like watching a film.
No, not at all, gaming is a recreation aimed at all demographics, despite the media unfairly associating it with solely kids and teens all the time.
Heck,I'm a Teacher (albeit 20/21 not that that should make a difference) and I game! I encouraged my 53 year old Step-Dad to play GTA V the other day after he was ranting about how 'sad' anybody over the age of 15 is if they play games (he's massively closed minded.) and he really enjoyed it.
People should really put those stupid misconceptions aside, if anything, that very attitude is the childish thing and not the games/gamers themselves.
one day gaming will seem as normal as watching TV. People a bit older still feel weird about playing games but at the end of the day its just another pass time. At some point that image of a middle aged or older person playing games wont seem so alien. Its seems very kid orientated to older people in many ways so a console can feel like a toy at face value, but the depth of stuff available and the good quality games out there make gaming a very fulfilling pass time for older people as well. maybe the word game kind of adds to the childish image, how about interactive experience!
No, I am a 47 year old housewife and I play games, my faves are Battlefield 3 and left 4 dead 2. I got my first 'game' in 1977( a pong type game) and have always had consoles and pcs to play on.
I hate the fact that gaming is associated with kids/teens because most of the people I game or have gamed with have been in their 30's/40's. It makes for good banter while gaming as we can chat about games/consoles from years ago that we may have played on.
I am 47 and only been gaming for about a year, after not bothering for about 20years, and am really enjoying it, i bought my 360 a year ago, then last christmas bought my ps3, and now i have a ps4.
No. I'm just 60 and still at it. Looking forward to some decent games appearing on the XBone and then I'll get one. Been at it since PONG appeared in our local pub, then ZX81, a BBC Micro, a Dreamcast and then XBOX/360.

Go for it !
I'm 46 and have been acting like an excited little boy waiting for today's PS4 launch :-)
Just kidding You get yourself a new console and give those teenagers that virtual smacking they deserve !
1 yes and 4 no.
Lets just say that older players manage pretty well on the Playstations premier FPS.

It might come from the possible inheritance
And he's only 46. Dunno why he's calling himself 50.

There are very good reasons not to buy these consoles but age isnt one of them.
Just got a PS4.
Live a little!
What does too old mean?.
