Annoying / overused things in movies
Ok, so the topic has been done before, several times no doubt but why not go around again for new members and new ideas (if there are any?)
First off:
Car chases. How come a crappy car or jeep/4x4 can keep up with a above decent car or even a motorbike which should be able to leave them for dust?

This gets used wayyyyy too much.
'Look at me, look at me, you can do this'.
People suddenly becoming horrible shots with a gun close up but from far away can hit the tiniest of targets.
Someone firing a machine gun (usually waving it side to side) only seems to be able to hit the walls or objects around the person they are shooting at (usually causing sparks). With that many bullets being pumped out so quickly and with such sporadic aiming, the chances of them only hitting objects around the person and not the person themselves would be impossible.
Scenes of people walking away from a building which subsequently blows up with no reaction registering whatsoever.
When a guy, along with scruffy hair, a pair of glasses and maybe an old-fashioned pullover, gets ruffled over something scientific or academic, he's likely to be an absent-minded professor/scientist. Doesn't help that this type is always male. I'll faint in shock if you can cite a film that features a female absent-minded professor/scientist.
Before the climax or confrontation, a shot of the main character or villain (or both!) walks in slow motion with a gun in his hand hanging at his side.
When a parcel or letter is delivered and the distracted main character casts it aside, you just know the parcel or letter will become relevant later on.
Or as per old James Bond films, they tie up the good guy or attach them to some elaborate contraption which they have a chance to escape from rather than just shooting them in the first instance
Romance between characters in stupid situations. They're lives might be in danger but there's always time for a passionate kiss or more.
And telling 007 in great detail what their evil plans involve before they activate the contraption
Monologuing
James Bond parking
Over-complicated plots and boring twists
Pointless deaths
'splosions
pop culture speeches
Villains resurrecting for one last shot at hero (enough already)
No one having scars, scabs or bruising from fights or battles.
Yes, I agree. Another annoying thing I find that is overused in movies is the lens flare. As we all know, J.J. Abrams is particularly fond of using them. I'm not putting his work down at all, I just find he uses lens flares far too much.
What is Lens flare - I have heard of this before but I am unsure what it means?
See also films where someone is a widow/widower and mentions the fact more than once.
