At least they have SNT in a few weeks - that should definitely prop up their Saturday night ratings.
The Take Me Out ratings are bad, only 3.6million for what is supposed to be an important Saturday night show for Itv. Demos are not good either in terms of the socio economic class of viewers watching it.

Oh the demos are sweet. With demos it's one or the other, either young or if older, high ABC1's. I think it missed theSplash lead in. Just shows how valuable it was to the line up.

Last year in January/February, Take me out was getting 4.5million without a Splash lead in. Now it is only getting 3.6million without a Splash lead in. Is it fair to say that people are getting bored of the programme? And if so, it must come as a concern to Itv who dont have ready made replacement shhows which could be shown 15-20hours per year on Saturday nights to 4-5million.

It had 3.94 million (including +1), that's the total number of people who watched the programme (and the adverts) last night.
There was a large drop in the Six Nations audience 5-7pm from last week, to 4.71m. Clearly many people in England are only interested in watching Six Nations rugby when England are playing.

16-34's are what TMO will be sold on. And in that demo it's huge. Even with a far smaller total audience it was neck and neck (often beating) Strictly Come Dancing. Nothing on ITV skews as young (or even close to it). I think only BGT/XF/I'm A Celeb would regularly top TMO in the demo for ITV.

ITV has always been more popular with C2DEs, but they have always had shows that attract ABC1s. Currently Downton Abbey ticks all the ABC1 boxes and the big ABC1 earner for them every four years is the RU World Cup. Also ITV2 does well in the younger demo.

Blah, blah blah, same post every day, you just change the name of the programme.
Take Me out isn't "getting 3.6m", one episode did
Haven't you learnt from your "The Chase is now being beaten by Pointless" posts, which lasted all of one day before The Chase was back in the lead.

TMO can pull in 5 million on a good day. ITV have faith in it as they could have said goodbye when it was against SCD, but didn't. I quite like the show. Also The Chase/Pointless battle is good as both shows are as good as each other.
Take Me Out is getting boring now... I think ITV were wrong to show it in the autumn and in the winter, having two series back to back. It's overexposed. The ratings may still look OK and it may still be doing well in the 16-34 demo, but I can see ratings falling if they keep overexposing it. They should stick to one series a year.

It's a good show, but I don't see the point of the ITV 2 spin off. Also there's a risk The Chase could become overexposed if there's no break from it, much as I like the show.
There does seem to a culture in television of hammering popular shows into the ground. I do wish we could get a break from Eggheads and Come Dine With Me.
Big night for Mr Selfridge tonight, the first time it hasnt faced Ripper Street. It would be embarrassing if the show's ratings fell below 5million the first time it wasnt facing Ripper Street because it was recomisioned earlier this week. Can it stand on its own two feet against different types of opposition? Zeebox predicts a comfortable win for BAFTAs so it could be in ratings trouble tonight!!
i made similar comments toamuel in a thread about a bbc crisis which exists except it was closed twice whilst samuel eems to get awayy with what accounts to blue murder with the thread still open does he know some of the mods or something if they close me down they should close him and this thread down as well for true and honest balance. the question overall is what has to happen to get thisd thread closed down and why if similar ones are closed the nwhy is this one, asd its as mouthpeace for samuels diatripical barrage of rose tinted ballocks relating to subject matter he just wantsto slate - please close it modsd this is getting stupid none. thanks

With respect, you started a BBC ratings crisis thread even though BBC have no ratings problems. According to ratings thread, bbc ones share of viewing is up. But Itv's share of viewing is down so there is still a ratings problem at the channel - not as bad as five months ago but still a problem.

Strangely I think you would be delighted if it was, even though you think ITV should invest in quality drama...

I wont be delighted. But maybe Itv jumped the gun recomissioning it just a few days before the show was facing a big test. If it does well tonight, Itv's decision will be vindicated. If it suffers a ratings drop, Itv might be regretting this decision because it will mean that against non Ripper street competition, Mr selfridge doesnt hold up well. It's a very big test for the drama tonight and we will truly see how loyal its audience is. If I was working at Itv, I'd have made a decision one week later than they actually did.

Depends what kind of opposition Mr. Selfridge gets next series, I guess. A one off, out of the ordinary, week won't result in embarrassment if Mr. Selfridge's figure dips as long as it rebounds.
If people want the thread to end, just don't post on it. Even though I disagree with Samuel, I don't really see why the mods should lock it at this stage. I stopped arguing with Samuel on this thread a while ago and asked those who disagreed with Samuel to stop posting as they are fighting a losing battle. Instead of complaining to the mods, just stop posting. As for those who want to carry on arguing with Samuel, good luck to you, but surely this tedium has to end soon.

Fo Goodness Sake. Any show on any Channel that has a drama that is getting 5m a week is going to get recomissioned. I think the Paridice was getting less but that still got a second series so why should Mr Selfridge be any different.
You and just a troll and its time this thread was locked

The Baftas normally gets 5million according to digital spy. So it's not very hard competition, it is about the same as what Ripper st. gets. I will be interesting in seeeing though because Bafta probably gets a different kind of audience to Ripper St. Will it cause more damage to Mr Selfridge or actually will Mr selfridge rate better than usual? Zeebox predicts a BAFTA victory so I dunno...

First off, 5million is fine, Im not saying its not. But if it dips under 5million, which is what I said, and if that has repurcussions for future episodes and it doesnt recover over 5million for the rest of the series, it could be a decision which Itv lives to regret. Even if it was a decision to bring the show back for 6 episodes instead of 10episodes, this Sundays ratings are something which Itv should have looked at before making such an important decision. My question is more to do with Why was Mr Selfridge renewed last week when it wouldve made more sense to make such a decision this coming week??

That is the thing; the BAFTAs rate similar to Ripper Street but the audience will probably be different.

If need be they'll throw it out on an 'easy' night against relatively weak competition from BBC One - there will be space in the schedule for it.
I predict a hit 7-8million viewers. But will it come back for a second series because it seems very focussed on one story. And how does Itv lure back such a strong cast for a second run?
