I overheard a conversation on the way home this evening which was basically along the lines of "Gambaccini got off too lightly, he should have been locked up".

Poor chap. It's almost worse this way than going to court and being found not guilty. At least then it is possible for people to see the quality of the evidence.

No name should be released until such time as the CPS confirm that there is enough evidence to charge for an offense. If there are others who then come forward it is in time for the cases to be included in the same trial. What should not happen is names thrown out by police to be tabloid headlines as part of a fishing mission.

All sides are losing in the unholy mess at the moment. Folks like Paul are having their lives put on hold/ruined and a segment of society will always believe there to be guilt after the initial media furore. Then you have the women who take these cases to trial on iffy evidence (time factor being the key issue) only for the jury (quite rightly) to find the defendant not guilty. You then have a segment of society claiming that these women are out and out liars and were only after money.

It does seem that some people think as they worked with Saville they were also involved in what he was getting up to.

I mostly agree*, but the last time that was suggested there was a huge outcry.

*In some cases it should be possible for the police to ask a judge for permission to name a suspect in order to get more victims to come forward.

They blatantly did that in this case and presumably no one else came forward so they had to give up. Must have been a tough year for him.

I feel very sorry for Paul after all he's gone through, his life totally ruined just because of this witch hunt.

Always liked Gambo and wanted him to be innocent

Who are they going to nail next? Zippy and Bungle? Zig and Zag?
