I am not one bit surprised about that Shortland Street ratings, I said it would flop and I was right.

That said I would not be surprised if Living gave Adam Rickitt some sort of reality show,. like Jordan.

Maybe when Jordan breaks up with Alex, she can marry Adam.

Shortland Street has been off air here too long (7 years?) and they are missing out several years from the last episodes that were shown in the UK so even hardened fans are not going to find it easy to pick up.

However, there are multiple repeats (eg it is on Living Loves at tea times and on Living and Living + 1 again the following morning). So it might actually make 20,000 in the end. :)

As for Adam Rickitts he was on TV the other day promoting something or other and indicated he had projects in the offing but could not talk about them yet....so you might be right.

Just getting the formalities out of the way, for those that want to look back:

    - Part 1 (January 2007 to April 2008)
    - Part 2 (April 2008 to October 2008)
    - Part 3 (October 2008 to August 2009)
    - Part 4 (August 2009 to October 2009)
    - Part 5 (October 2009 to December 2009)
    - Part 6 (December 2009 to February 2010)
    - Part 7 (February 2010 to March 2010)
    - Part 8 (March 2010 to May 2010)
    - Part 9 (May 2010 to June 2010)
    - Part 10 (June 2010 to August 2010)
    - Part 11 - you're reading it

...and for anyone even remotely interested in statistics, we've amassed 78,806 posts and over 4.14 million people have read this thread.

I think it was scrapped 9 years ago when ITV lost faith in Aussie/ New Zealand soaps. A gap like this is a long time and most of the viewers will have moved on or possibly passed away.

makes me wonder why Living are bothering, unless its as ive mentioned before, its an attempt to turn Rickit into a "star" for the channel, but quite why they would want to do that, I dont know.

It was never a big deal in the nineties and few people commented when it was finished. It was just cheap schedule filler for the regions in the same way A Country Practice was.

I agree, but that does not explain why Living is bothering with it?

Sharon Osbourne is returning to X Factor for the judges homes stage, it will be interesting to see the ratings for that one! They normally dip a bit during the middle stages but I expect it won't if this is true.

It's cheap like a lot of their disposable " female" oriented programming and it probably covers its costs.

I agree it will be cheap, not sure if it can cover costs on 8,000 viewers, I mean who are those 8,000 viewers, are THAT attractice to advertisers?

I think some are milking Shortland Street's disappointing return a bit too much. Let's give LIVING some credit for delivering first run content in the daytime, something that the vast majority of digital channels do not do. Furthermore, it's too early to write it off after two episodes. It could still improve, and whilst obviously 10k is on the poor side, it is not as terrible as it might seem for a pay TV channel at 3pm. However I suspect they were hoping for more and it will need to grow its audience over time for it to have any chance of becoming a long term fixture of LIVING's schedule.

There's a pretty major serial killer storyline coming up shortly which should deliver a boost. During this storyline, episodes in New Zealand peaked at a 60% viewing share.

Just getting the formalities out of the way, for those that want to look back:

...and for anyone even remotely interested in statistics, we've amassed 78,806 posts and over 4.14 million people have read this thread.
That is a lot of views, more viewers than most of ITV's programming. :D

Two things about last nights ratings, is that the first time BBC1 has won prime time on a Monday night up against the ITV1 soaps?
Is that the first time ITV1 has come 4th on a Monday night?

I highly doubt those are unique views. DS itself has <400k members so for one thread alone to amass over 4m readers is not plausible. It's like last night's Dragons' Den and that 38m walkers in the UK "statistic."

Yes I am aware of that but it was just a joke.

Well no, its had 4m views... of course 4m viewers isn't 4m unique readers, just that this thread (or the total of the 11 threads) have had 4 million 'clicks'.
