I'm the opposite. I really want to enjoy the Sky coverage. Their build up is spot on, the analysis is better than before and Brundle is on fire this year. But my dislike of Croft is too much. Think it probably started early through the 2011 season. He just sounds so cocky and arrogant and I can name numerous commentators I would like to see replace him.
Ben Edwards/Martin Haven/Toby Moody/Will Buxton
The commentary is the main thing keeping me on the BBC. Even I've warmed to Georgie Thompson. So Croft is now the only reason I ain't watching Sky during the clashes and during some of the non-clashes too.
Actually Roger Coulthard has really been a delight this year. Ben has really got more out off him and he now offers his opinion on his own. He never used to offer opinion but he does now.
He used to be really bias towards Red Bull but you wouldn't even think that now. Coulthard is in my opinion a good commentator. I know brundle is god and probably better but Ben Edwards is the biggest draw by far.
DC has really impressed me this season. I hated him last year but I have changed my mind.
Edwards has brought a bit out of Coulthard in comms, but it sounds like DC may go down the Brundle 'more than a co-comm' route of where comms/co-comms is 50/50 in terms of speech

Thats the problem.
On a random note I played the BBC's Grand national Opening over the Sky F1 Opening and it WORKS!
Just ignore the horse noises! Okay it blatantly doesn't work but it amused me in my sad little life for a few minuets! Back to the wife and kids for me.:(
But what's good is, even when DC interrupts Ben, it's almost always adding something good to the conversation
He had some good thoughts today and maybe its just me but DC seemed very lethargic today, like he had been on the night nurse and post race he looked very glazed over. For me it somewhat spoiled the great work Ben was doing, their respective styles are quite different and they dont seem to quite mix together.

Thanks, what I am looking forward to is seeing the comparison on how they called lap 48 with all the craziness!
Watched on BBC, have taped Sky as backup (in case my BBC recording failed on Sky+) - will rewatch key moments from Sky broadcast throughout the rest of the week.
Someone at FOM loves the start replays, we've had them for a few years now and they've always been too long when live action is happening. If Sky are good at reacting to viewer feedback, then FOM are brilliant at ignoring it.
I thought FOM showed a slight sign of listening to us today - got underway with the start replays earlier with the intention of being back live as the cars entered the DRS zone for the first time on lap 3.
Still think it is crazy to break away from live on lap 2 or 3 - pretty much as heinous as taking a commercial break on these laps - the entire world are being deprived of live action on some of the most exciting closest laps of a race.
Well, I haven't watched Sky coverage yet, but I was MEGA impressed by BBC live coverage today.
Didn't miss MB as much as I thought I would - no Ted is definitely a tougher pill to swallow, though.
Based on today, I can see me watching BBC coverage "as live" for all ten of their races - Ben was superb (yes, DC is too quick to interrupt during moments of excitement or high drama, but I am sure he will temper his interruptions very soon).
Pic quality was not as bad as I feared (although smoggy China "deadens" the HD pic in my view).
Shame that after F1 covered itself in glory today, it could potentially blow it BIG STYLE next weekend.
I will be here all weekend next weekend, I will be keeping abreast of the race weekend on Twitter/Autosport/forums (here and Autosport) to make sure everything went smoothly, no one in the F1 fraternity was hurt and the security of the race was maintained. But I won't be watching any television coverage of this next race weekend, the first race weekend I have missed since Italy 2001.

While not condoning F1 for heading to Bahrain next weekend, I do think F1 is getting a slightly rough deal. This picture was taken in Bahrain yesterday. Smiling for the camera amongst others are Tim Henman, Colin Montgomerie, Ruud Guilit, Gianluca Vialli, oh and the commander of the Royal Guard, a unit of the Bahrain Defence Force. And yet, far more copy has been written about F1 weeks before we go there than has been written in total about these guys.
One thing I find annoying about Sky is the way Simon cuts of talks quickly, even with his colleagues. I don't remember it happening often on the BBC but I might be wrong.
Yeah I spotted that. I never realised there was an airport (east midlands) so close to the track until now.
If the wind is in the right direction when you take off from East Midlands, some aircraft do a sharp left bank just after takeoff giving passengers on the Left window seats a very good view of the circuit. It's probably 2000-3000 feet high but feels like 500 feet if you're a nervous flyer.
Back on topic - I noticed on Martins Grid walk as he went back onto the track, EJ coming the other way and he pulled quite a face. It's been mentioned about the reactions to DC and LM but EJ was a gem.
I watched the race on BBC due to the much less intrusive DOG but had (at different times) Sky's Pit-Lane, JB and LH on-boards on my second set. I did notice when watching the on-boards that the BBC commentary was calmer then Sky's, Ben was not as excitable as the last races, just a shame the BBCHD PQ is so poor - it looked to me like upscaled SD, the on-boards on the BBC coverage looked the same as the track camera's. As we know, the on-boards are SD.

Really enjoyed BBC qualifing, thought it was an excellent show, though I did skip through most of Q1 and Q2.
The race show was good, they grabbed a lot of people on the grid. Poor DC seemed genuinely upset at the jacket they had made for him! Did miss Ted, he would always have found out something interesting when they cut to him. Post-race I didn't watch intently as I was waiting for it to finish so I could go back to bed!
The last bit of the race was excellent. Really pleased for Rosberg and the Mclarens did well. Suspect Webber was more pleased about his finish above Vettel than he let on! If the season continues as the first three races have it is going to be much more varied and less predictable that last year!

tbh, after 10 laps or so, i was really missing Brundle and Ted to the point where i considered not watching anymore and waiting for Sky cap.
this was highly entertaining
thanks

Hit my weekly limit, will try to remember to do it next week.

Struck me as OK to be honest.

Thanks dansus. Croft needs his own soundbite at the start though. He stole Ben's in my opinion.
Ken
He stole Ben's? I think he used "Lights out, away we go!" in his 5 Live days as well. Neither stole it from anyone else.
Ben has always said that though. Okay I was being a bit silly but it was strange to her the same thing.
I made a fundamental error with my spelling on that post! How embarrassing.:o
edit. I have now rectified my earlier balls up. I'm off to work now so I will see you lot later.
