The use of "studio" has got my back up a little.

I hope it's not some god awful mash of 'Wipe and his dreadful Ch4 panel-series (the other one - not 10 O Clock Live).

"You Have Been Watching", I think it was called. It does sound similar, doesn't it?

Looking on the brightside, we'll still be getting Doug Stanhope, Barry Shitpeas and new girl Philomena Cunk.

I was really looking forward to this until I read this bit.....
"Charlie will be joined in the studio by a panel of celebrity guests"

I don't want celebrity guests. I just want the perfect format that's worked so well so far. If it ain't broke then don't fix it. Celebrity guests don't just somehow make something better. Which is what most TV people appear to think.

I get the feeling it was the promotion to BBC2 and a bit more dosh that secured another regular series rather than any artistic impetus from Brooker. I doubt we’d be seeing another full run if BBC4 had been the proposed home for it.

I know the misanthropic delivery on the trail is supposed to be the joke but I wonder how much of that is true considering he’s moved on somewhat from Wipe these last few years to more lofty writing gigs?

...what most TV people appear to think.

    Appear to think.

Yes that's what these good-for-nothing meddlers are trying to do, "appear to think" so as to justify their unnecessary, most often ruinous, "jobs".

    ...

Everything was just fine with him sat on the couch every once in a while just ripping a dreadful and idiotic mass-"culture" to shreds.

Oh dear, so I guess he's going for a 'You Have Been Watching'- style show again then. Not that there was anything THAT bad with that. It's just that, like you say, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I was looking forward to seeing Charlie sat on his sofa putting the world to rights like in Screenwipe/Newswipe. Hmm, I hope this turns out alright, but the celebrity guests thing has put a few doubts into my mind.

I can't believe Splash was originally a foreign TV show.

    Can't ITV do anything original?

Barry shitpeas was the producer on the early screenwipes, but this woman is just some failed comedian
