It's been quite a long time since I saw it, but I remember liking it. Though I think there was one scene in particular (with the plastic bag) that I found quite uncomfortable viewing.

I agree with those above saying it's an anti-death penalty film, not quite sure what the outrage in post #2 was all about
Even if it were a pro-death penalty film, I don't support wars but I've watched enough films that feature them
