One Direction - "Story of My Life" Music Video Premiere
All the guys showcased their families except Zayn Malik who only showcased his sister. Some rumors are saying it's because his parents are Muslim and refused to be apart of the music video. What do you all think is the reason?

Nice concept of the video, but it has nothing to do with the song. This is a love song and the promo was made like it is about their life and childhood - bit weird to have that kind of promo and the video with this song. If this was a personal song or about life, it would all make sense, but this doesn't.
I understand why this was done. I don't even have to look at comments, I'm sure most are "OMG Harry is SO PERFECT gazing up at his mom and Zayn is SO SWEET hugging his sister" - but the concept doesn't make any sense and the whole promo is very misleading, people behind it are trying to make bigger deal out of this which is nothing more than decent love song. They are singing about failed relationships, not their family, or should I say stories of their lives.
I'm surprised this went to no. 4 in the UK, I was sure it would do better as this could have appealed to the wider audience, but apparently not. This could actually be their weakest sales of the first week. Maybe the fans don't like this change so much, they still want immature songs.
Zayn's dad has always kept out of the limelight and Niall just showcased his brother . Only Liam was with his whole family in the video so think your argument is flawed.
Zeze I do kind of agree with you (for a change ) But there are loads of videos that don't correlate to the lyrics of the song and the fan base don't care . It is a great video if not factually correct. Apparently that is not the way to make colour photographs
My god, the world is doomed:D
Don't get me wrong, I know plenty of videos don't correlate to the lyrics, that is why I have a bigger problem with the promo of it than the actual video - the promo was a completely different thing all together, with them posting childhood photos and everything - this is a love song, nothing more nothing less - they all just took the title literally. That is why I find all of this misleading and pointless.
However, if I just ignore the lyrics, it is a good music video by itself.
Well, they are just a boyband so of course they will sing love songs. What else could they sing about, rainbows and ponies? The only boyband that doesn't sing mostly love songs right now are Take That and they certainly started that way.
They should be singing about those as their fans are mostly 11 year olds.
Yep keep saying that Jason and eventually you will believe it
Go on twingle, tell him how old you are.
Well, the majority of them behave like 11 year olds.
Do you just copy and paste the texts you post in different forums?! I swear I saw the same text in another music forum (you know which one) Don't have a problem with that, just find it funny...
Regarding its appeal to a wider audience: We all agree with that, I think. But just because it charted outside the top 3 in its first week, you can't say it doesn't appeal to the general public. I mean who even knew they had a song out apart from fans and music lovers on sites like digitalspy etc.? Radio airplay still has to build and they are going to have an X factor performance...
I wouldn't say the majority act like 11 year olds, I'd infact say the minority act like 11 year olds, I know there's bad fans out there, heck I could even name you some, but for every bad fan there's a few good fans who are mature and don't act like they've wet the bed when one of them gets a girlfriend , so I think that's a very unfair judgement.
I'm 17 and I'm a big fan, I've never once sent a death threat to a girlfriend, I've never once been nasty to someone who says they don't like 1D (differences is what the world goes round) and I've never acted like a "11 year old" since I've been a fan and I know many many others that are the same
So what if I copy/paste it, I am not crazy to basically type the same opinion, it is not funny or crazy, i have the right to share my opinion
No, I said it doesn't appeal to the wider audience because it sold 55K in the first week and mostly 1D fans bought that. Being in Top 4 is great, but you can't deny everyone was going on and on how they will have a no. 1 and that they topped iTunes charts - it turns out this only happened in the first few days which happens every time they release something.
It remains to be seen how sales will be once they do perform on X Factor, that will be interesting, but I think nothing major will happen.
Maybe, but that strategy is a bit risky... Some in the general public deem a One Direction song a failure if they don't hit #1 or at least top 3 in the first week. So airplay might not increase as quickly now...
Yes, but I mean we can't judge its wider appeal until people outside their fanbase have actually HEARD the song a few times and made their mind up whether they like it or not...
And you can't say "everyone was going on and on how they will have a no. 1". Certainly we in the AT were very sceptical whether it would even beat TW (with them having the X factor performance, weeks of constant airplay on Capital FM and one day more sales)... So we were pleasantly surprised to see them top the itunes charts on the first day. People might have been mislead by the huge lead (which was due to pre-orders), but to me it was pretty sure from the day "The Monster" was released that Eminem would catch up and get #1 easily.
I think with a wiser video release strategy (release it on Friday evening for a weekend-boost) they would have snatched that #3 away from Fatboy Slim and got their annual #3 single
Not making excuses, 55k is kind of disappointing, but I reject the notion that everybody thought it's a sure #1!
I am not saying that you fans thought they would be no.1, but the media did create the fuss again. On Haven forum the report said they would snatch no.1 single and the DS was fangirling writing 2 articles how they stormed the iTunes charts.
This certainly isn't the boys fault, I'm just commenting how the media is still hyping everything way ahead before the actual results.
But even if they did reach to no.1 with 55K in a less competitive week, the sales are still not that great, which I am aware you also admitted.
Oye am young at heart and that is what counts:D
The part where Louis' grandparents vanish from the picture is really poignant.
