Thinking about upgrading my GeForce GTS 250 1GB and wondering what my options are. I use my PC for photo editing and the latest version of Photoshop uses the GPU. Im getting a lot of lag. Im upgrading the Ram to 16GB but thinking about changing the GPU too. Happy to pay about £100.
My power supply is only 350W so need a GPU which is ok with that. Im lost when it comes to GPU so any advice would be great. Thanks guys
Pc specs:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1GB

Wouldn't it make sense to try the RAM first?
Definitely try the ram, I had 4gb and went up to 16gb of ram and my machine, a Dell Xps 8100 with intel core i5 750 and a gts 240; The machine is waaaaaaay faster than it was., 4gb is a little low, as windows eats up a fair chunk of ram, leaving not a lot for intensive programs.
Problem is ram prices have shot up but look around on ebay and Amazon for deals. I managed to find some good crucial ram which worked out to be 15 quid per 4gb stick. The card you have should be fine to drive 2D stuff, it's gaming where you will need a better graphics card.I do a fair bit of video editing and photoshop and everything runs fine, more than fine in fact. You've got a pretty good cpu, try adding some ram and see how you get on.
The only thing i struggle on with my current set up is recent games. Older games 2-5 years old, can pretty much max out settings and get decent frame rates too. Just need to really tone down the graphics on the newer games though. I do game a bit so the card will be on the way out soon. Just bought a new 550w psu, and will be in the market for a graphics card. Perhaps a GTX 650ti or a 660.
But a ram boost usually always immensely speeds up a system. Always the first thing I do with a new system.
Keep us updated.
This is the ram I bought for my system. Price is up now. I spend £60 for the 16gb kit. Works great in my system.
