wordpress - error establishing a database connection

I keep getting this so many times a day now, sometimes even after adding just one post!!

i have de activated all the plugins and re activated them to no avail.
My site is becoming unusuable

Any one know how to get rid of this bloody error PLEASE!! :mad:
