    Interesting - thanks for those.

This for 2nd February? Well, Secret Service was only meant for six episodes. Maybe Hammond should really stick to Top Gear - although I don't see what was wrong with Total Wipeout. Maybe it would have been less pressure for them when it comes to ratings if they scheduled it no later than 5pm on a Saturday.
I'm suspecting the decision to axe Wipeout was forced on the BBC considering there doesn't appear to have been any international versions filmed since our Winter series last year (and a Scandanavian one filmed at the same time).

Except that that would have resulted in two The Chase's in one night.

On the channel that quite happily puts two Corries on in one night or two Emmerdales. Also they've shown repeats of Midsomer Murders in afternoons when there was a new episode on in primetime.

BBC2 has ran out of sport for its daytime schedule after Friday so next Monday at 4.15 they begin a re-run of Life On Earth. It'll be interesting to see how well this does. I notice yesterday's Vintage Antiques Roadshow at 5.15 didn't do very well.

And they're also repeating The One Show.. The previous (week)day edition from BBC1. They're showing it at 1pm so that the programme's title is still relevant.:D

    Monday 14th January 2013 - Demographic Breakdowns
    Children 4-15
    01 - 844k (40.9%) - EastEnders (20:00, BBC1)
    02 - 756k (40.4%) - Miranda (21:00, BBC1)
    03 - 786k (37.3%) - Coronation Street (19:30, ITV)
    04 - 610k (32.6%) - Coronation Street (20:30, ITV)
    05 - 554k (38.5%) - Mrs Brown's Boys (21:30, BBC1)

Miranda, I could understand why children would like it due to it's more humorous style. MBB, however, maybe kids just like the concept of a man dressed as a lady cussing? :D

Foxtel have commissioned an 8 part series of Coast Australia hosted by Neil Oliver

Not sure if this is a co-production with the BBC, or even if the BB will show it. But apart from the occasional trip to France/Norway, Holland, its surprising it has took Coast this long to move away from the UK coast.

Hmm, I dunno. I thought The Town was a terrible disaster for ITV because it got critical acclaim and had some big stars and it got appalling ratings, and the sad thing is that it seems viewers just don't want to check out a new ITV drama...
That I think they've improved the overall reputation and perception of drama on ITV doesn't mean that I think its problem solved. The BBC still has the occasional blip with drama that people just don't watch. It happens. The real mission statement of ITV drama over the past couple of years though has been about putting together a slate of shows that aren't terrible. Sure they aren't particularly innovative nor are all of them especially brilliant but for the most part they've helped toward the process of decontaminating a brand that had seen much better days. The truth is you can't ever expect to launch a great or significant number of successful returnable drama if the public perception is that anything and everything that lands on ITV is going to be terrible. They've had to tackle that issue first and I think they've turned at least turned a corner on the issue of perception.
    Servalan wrote: »
Obviously it's subjective if you think that ITV's recent drama content 'has ranged from good to excellent' - but viewers clearly don't agree with you. Monroe, Homefront and The Town are three titles that have not only failed to capture significant audiences but also signal that someone at ITV has been taking their eye off the ball and is out of touch with what will engage with its core viewers.
Please lets not get into the argument that large audience dictate quality. The BBC had the likes of Good Cop last year which weren't exactly big hits but were high quality. Viewers may not have been especially interested in some of these dramas but when you watch them its hard to describe them as terrible especially in comparison to the rubbish ITV was broadcasting a few years ago. More over I'd suggest ITV are a bit damned if they do and damned if they don't here. When they air the crime drama they have a proven track record with and that the audience clearly enjoy they're accused of just playing it safe and not trying but when they attempt to breakout of that mould and it isn't a huge success they're criticised for taking their eye off the ball and not engaging with what their viewers want. We don't get to have it both ways on this.
What the channel needs is to be able to pull off the kind of trick Call The Midwife did last year - an unknown title up against two previously solid ratings bankers and coming out on top...
That's a completely unfair expectation. Its not like anyone is launching Call the Midwife like successes on a regular or even semi-regular baiss. There's been three new dramas hitting that kind of level in recent years and one of those is an ITV drama. In truth ITV don't need a Call the Midwife like success. They need to be able to launch and sustain new drama around the 5(+) million mark.

That's more or less where I expected it to debut to be honest. I don't for one minute expect it to stay at that kind of level though but we'll see.

Probably not the best place to ask, but anyone know what's happenning with Body of Proof on C5. According to the FAQ on the C5 website the series ends tonight - except it doesn't. There are 8 more left to show. So what happens to the remaining Series 2 episodes?

It's not doing as well as would be hoped at 9pm, so I can see why C5 might want to move it, but it would be a shame for C5 to start messing around with it. It's not a flop, and would surely be worth trying at 10pm instead

I hope Dallas makes use off the 9pm slot next Tuesday ...

And The Weakest Link also returns to the schedule ... Hopefully over time BBC2 find something else to air 1-2.15pm

The early-morning rapid repeats on BBC Two seem to have enjoyed a small uplift in share; perhaps people have realised they're on. Relatively speaking, Cowboy Trap still doesn't seem to repeat well after 20 hours, though.

I notice that just over 27m were watching TV in the 9pm hour last night (including same-day timeshift of that hour).

To answer my own Body of Proof question, the announcer at the end said it's back in the Summer. Not the best scheduling though. On for 9 weeks, off for Christmas, back for 3 weeks and now off for a few months. Surely C5 would have been better having CBB at 9pm on Tuesdays, rather than bringing BoP back for just 3 episodes? Those 3 epsiodes could then have aired in the Summer with the rest

Back for the summer? I wonder if they're going to tie it in with the 'normal' series of Big Brother.

ITV will, at last, be pleased with those prime time shares. The first prime time win for over a week! Corrie still proving that soaps are what people perceive ITV to be about. Although, in fairness, they do soaps well!

Why didn't they just air the NTAs between 7.30pm-10pm tonight? OK, I know they're live, but I'm sure they could have booked the hall a night earlier. Added to that, it means Emmerdale will be hit by a clash and Coronation Street has moved to 7pm - and ITV didn't even bother to promote it after Emmerdale tonight. Considering it's running on from yesterday you'd think they'd push it more.

The Corrie scheduling tomorrow is ridiculous, and given they're happy to push News at Ten back for any old rubbish - Superstar, a Royal Variety clip show - I don't know why they didn't just run the Awards at 8-10.30 tomorrow and then they can keep Emmerdale and Corrie in their usual slots. All they're doing here is maybe giving 'stEnders a slight knock, but damaging Emmerdale and Corrie in the process. And any bonus Emmerdale running up to 8pm gets will be completely wasted by the fact it's followed by a repeat of Millionaire from six weeks ago.

I remember at the turn of the century, the NTAs were often on a Tuesday and one year the Scottish regions were opting out for a Rangers Champions League match - they'd show them all no matter what day they were on - and so they had to show the NTAs dalyed at 10.30.

I thought we were told yesterday that BBC1 has no appeal whatsoever for younger viewers and it skews massively old? An impressive turnaround, that.

Well, in the past ITV drama could be both daring and extremely popular, a la Cracker. I know they were in a position of strength then because audiences were bigger but they were prepared to do that at 9pm and reaped the rewards. And with things like Cold Feet they were able to virtually launch an entire genre (and that didn't rate very highly at the start, but they were committed to it and watched it grow).

The problem with ITV drama now is a bit like BBC drama ain the nineties - it was dominated by short-run, often very dense dramas that were too grim for public consumption, and their attempts at popular drama were half-arsed and not particularly successful.

It is indeed. 423k on +1 for CBB is the best-ever Channel 5 +1 audience for any programme in the overnights, and that episode's +1 will have the highest-ever consolidated figure too as the record-holder for that is currently the first Monday of CBB11 with 385k.

It's more of a Channel 4/ITV kind of +1 figure! I've noticed that +1s across the board seem to have picked up on Channel 5. It's certainly established itself now after just over a year.

Very good for Corrie last night to beat the magic 10m. Lewis also did well with a rating that could win the slot some nights. This is being overlooked where being beaten by BBC1 is the only benchmark of success.

The Chase continues to do well and is out in front of Pointless again. The 'No CBBC' game changer isn't as clear cut as many predicted, although the lack of CBBC does seem to mean that BBC1 will now win all day shares much more often than previously. It'll be very rare for ITV to win all day shares now.

What do BBC1 have lined up once Miranda/MBB finishes?

Perhaps they're now waiting to see what happens with the series in the US? It returns for a revamped third season in February. Not a lot of point getting much more invested in trying to build it if the 13 episodes ordered for season 3 are the last.

Its a difficult line to walk. I don't know that I agree with the charge that ITV's schedule has been too dominated by short run stuff that's too grim for public consumption. That, at times, feels like a much more fitting description of the state of BBC drama.

Will there be any snow in Lapland this year? :D

Some of us we were thinking it was going to be a turkey when it was dumped at 10pm on Christmas Eve 2011, but it achieved an overnight of 5.90m (28.5%), consolidating to 6.89m (30.4%) and blitzing Piers Morgan's interview with Donny Osmond by 3:1.

It passed me by, but it was repeated after the 10pm news on the Thursday before last Christmas, and picked up nearly another 2m consolidated (15%).

Corrie and Lewis, the pensioners' choice on the pensioners' channel. :)

In time, it's likely Corrie will get axed before EastEnders

EE has youth on its side, Corrie's audience are dying off.

Not quite Lapland - Outnumbered repeats.

Might not have been a bad idea to have put the new series of Outnumbered on after Miranda finishes, rather than an Outnumbered repeat. Then the week after pair it up with something like Not Going Out (there must be another series of that in the can???)

But a one off repeat in that slot could still get 4-5m against the second of a two part Lewis and before MBB.
