why are us uk fans being treated like a second class citizen?
first no trailer for 50th and now S7 DVD come out in the USA before UK and they get the doctor, the widow and the wardrobe on it. (i know its s**t and i get the dvd for xmas but thats not the point) I bet the USA will find out who the 12th dr is first. what next move the doctor who experience to new york?
can i also say thank you Matt Smith for selling Wales at comic con "it rains alot"

None of us got the End Of Time trailer that was shown at Comic Con till much later either IIRC.
The DVD situation on the other hand is utterly ridiculous and I would appreciate it if anyone unhappy, disappointed or angry with the fact Americans get the box set 1 month before us with more extras and an additional episode all for the same price could sign this petition I found and/or complain to BBC Worldwide here.
Slightly shabby that they can't just release a box-set with the complete series and both specials on it globally without any hiccups. It'd make up for the lack of Confidential, but the DVD's are becoming an unnecessary mess now.
As for the trailer, neither the UK or the US has a trailer. Comic-Con did, and that just happens to be held in the US. Criticise the Beeb for not supporting UK conventions by all means, but not for supporting the US where they clearly haven't.
As annoyed as I am about the box set, and I did email, I couldn't sign their petition. They look like Mo Mowlam slept with Chucky and that popped out. They just makes DW fans look bad.
I didn't even read it or look at it. I just signed it.
Now that you've said that I probably shouldn't read it otherwise I may be consumed with regret...
I feel bad to be honest, very very shallow. I just meant that they look like mainstream media thinks all fans look like. The convention 'type'.
I know they want to push the show in the US more, especially with the big increase in interest over the last few seasons. It's perfectly understandable. But I do wish the powers that be could be a little more tactful about it.
I wasn't sure if different episodes have a commentary on the US boxset then the ones chosen for the UK boxset. For instance if the American set had a commentary for asylum of the daleks and the UK didn't and if that is the case I will be pissed off.
Having the time of my life as a fan right now watching the show have such international appeal. 50th's made better by you entitled crybabies
Thankfully there've been all those other 50th anniversaries to keep us warm at night.
I'm not happy about the dvd situation, never have liked a general leaning towards the region 1 market, but let's hold fire on the "Worst.<thing>.Ever." stuff until its over, eh? Then we can moan our guts out, and if it's warranted I'll be at the front of the queue. Love a good moan, me.
The time of your life? That's a bit tragic. Surely you have done more exciting things.
"Boycott the 50th"
"Boycott the 50th"
You mean that special episode that fans all over the world will have been waiting for 6 months to see? You mean the one that will resolve the huge cliffhanger from the end of the last series? You mean the one that will be feature-length and will feature two of fans' favourite Doctors? You mean that episode that could explain the events of the Time War, a huge off-screen event in the series history? You mean the episode that also features the return of a popular companion and popular villains the Zygons and the Daleks, and could feature a scene involving Eight? You mean that episode celebrating 50 years of this show, that so many fans will flock to see in celebration of their favourite show?
Yeah, good luck with that...
Or, sure, we could all boycott the 50th so the show can get cancelled, then we won't have to worry about this kind of nonsense at all! Down with Doctor Who! Down with Moffat! We want our DVD! Crush the lesser races! Unlimited rice pudding! Etcetera! Etcetera!
Rights issues in the UK?
You're not forced. You don't have to buy a TV Licence (ergo watching TV as transmitted) nor do you have to buy BBC Worldwide's products.
None of the funding for this is coming from the TVL anyway, as BBC Worldwide is paying for this, so what are you rabbiting on about?
Rights issues? What are you talking about? Somebody else didn't make the episode. They have already released it.
Thanks for that little pearl, it's really made me look at things differently.
You do know that you have to buy a TV licence in the UK if you own a tv?
The funding for all programming comes from the licence, as they love to brag
