I do not support celebrities who committed murder, so someone like let's say O.J. Simpson would be boycotted by me or his films would be. I know some will say he was not criminally convicted of the double murders in America but I followed the trial and was more than convinced he did it. He was found guilty in the civil trial that followed for both murders, and that is certainly a legal verdict in America anyway.

I do not support celebrities who commit child molestation, or are into kiddie porn or who rape. So that does mark Michael Jackson off my list. Once again, he was not convicted in court but I have seen enough research on him to believe he is guilty of some type of child molestation and perversion with underage boys. You have to use your own judgment on these things when you research it. Kiddie porn was removed from Neverland for his criminal trial by the way. The Kiddie porn is enough for me to say so long to Michael Jackson even though at one time, I really did like him.

I do not support celebrities who beat women or children so yes, Chris Brown would be off my list. I don't want to give money to people who do such things even though of course, they will receive millions, my money simply doesn't have to be among it.

Celebrities who are addicts, get hooked on drugs and alcohol and who are caught with possession or whatever, doesn't bother me. They are harming themselves basically and if they go and do their legal sentences in jail or community service or whatever, I don't care. Keifer Sutherland did his time and I would not boycott him and the same with the ones on drugs. Coolio however, well maybe he should've boycotted before they found the crack on him at the airport:p (Just kidding). Drug and alcohol offenses don't bother me, but murder, child molestation, kiddie porn, rape or battering of a woman or child does.

I may want to add racism to the list. Racism whether it's white on black, black on white, racism against Jewish people or Muslims, whatever it is, does annoy me and makes you not look at the artist in the same way.

One thing I have found, you have to have boundaries and principles and stick with them in life, or else you'll fall for anything and believe everything is ok.:)

I agree, I've even gone off KW.
However with the MJ, thing how do we know this is factual? Court Docs would serve as good proof for me.

It all depends of the crime. You don't hear Gary Glitter and Jonathan King songs on the radio any more. I can't forgive them for being paedophiles and nor can the radio producers, I suppose.
Convicted druggies, like Doherty, are a different thing. People can still listen to their music with out feeling sick to the stomach because of their crime.
Lord Archer seems to have bounced back after being convicted for perverting the course of justice. He's written best sellers and managed to keep his peerage since his release from chokey.

Yes, that's my thoughts too. One of my favourite group is the Rolling Stones, some of whom have been in trouble with the law and spent time in jail. I have no problem buying and listening to their stuff. BUt I would never buy a Gary Glitter record (or Jonathan King, but then again I would never have bought one of his anyway).

I will always like the person's music I dont think anything would stop me from liking it. I won't support the artist by buying their music/merchandise or seeing them in concert, I actually have to like them for me to spend my money. I'm pretty much done with Chris Brown. I'm sure he'll still have fans that will forgive him and go to concerts but he's lost his appeal for me.

I agree with this wholeheartedly, which is why I'm surprised to say the least that so many people seem to be salivating at the prospect of a certain performer touring in the UK.

You seem avid in trying to catch me out. While writing my first post I thought about KW, and research the ''racist claims'' and realised I could no longer support someone who supported racism. I just, thought to look it up as I was typing my first post up. Happy now?

I wont be jumping on the I agree with Torrid Affair bandwagon, although with Chris Brown, the more I read of this story the more I am disappointed by Rihanna's alleged stance. I hope this is just the papers stretching things are far as possible. So many teenaged girls are becoming the victims of domestic violence nowadays, sometimes girls as young as 13, and it saddens me that some of her young fans might take some perverse insiration or courage from her "standing by her man". Domestic violence destroys confidence and can be fatal for the victim. Its so sad. :(

Re Michael Jackson, I'd rather not swallow the "evidence" of conspiracy theorists or people who dislike him, personally he never struck me as someone with the nature of a paedophile, imo its a very distinctive personality trait and if people are honest they'll say that it is something about him they don't like rather than actually believing that he is a genuine paedophile. I suppose some people will hold to their view that he is, so I gladly hold to my strong belief that while he does look a little frightful and I could knock him over the head for dangling the baby over the balcony, a paedophile he most definitely is not.
Cannot wait to see him at the O2 YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!

I think Michael Jackson is a bit wierd and the baby dangling and silly high voice and babies covered in blankets and other things have put me off him in a general sense.

I'm not convinced that he has done anything properly dodgy, and he was found not-guilty, so I wouldn't boycott him. It would be wrong to boycott based on rumour, especially when there is clearly a lot of nonsense said about him. Nevertheless, if I had kids, he'd not be in charge of babysitting!

If his music comes on the radio and it's a song I like, I'm happy to listen to it without feeling I'm endorsing any wrong-doing.

Theres no excuse for what he has done, how can anyone defend this is beyond me.
But this forum has no issue justifying many incidents of female on male violence using the same excuse he did. Why isn't it any excuse in his case?

As for the subject, I usually pay no attention to private lives of the artists I listen to so i really couldn't care less.

Like some people I'm boycotting CB but should you boycott all stars wo go court whether they've been found guilty or not guilty?
Who you still endorse star, even though they've been found guilty of a crime?

It's the quality of the music/lyrics not the performer IMO.

Absolute nonsense. I respect your right not to support an artist but it doesnt take away from their achievements.

Michael Jackson is a deeply odd person

Thriller is one of the greatest songs of all time.

NOTHING can change that second statement.

PS im not a MJ fan.

Not just in music but I personally don't buy/go to see Russell Crowe films since the phone incident.

I won't buy any album with R Kelly on it and "I Believe I Can Fly" tends to crop up on a few compilations.

Have rid my collection of and refused to spend any money making Mel Gibson richer since the Nazi thing. I'm sure he doesn't care but I'm just doing what feels right for me.

Have heard of Chris Brown but not a fan anyway. This would put me off.

I think KW is Kanye West...

I don't really boycott artists unless....they commit violent crimes and yes...I have to agree with Torrid....can't stand racism...homophobia or bigotry against religion. Those things really do bother me in public figures...

Going to Wacko Jacko.....granted he was acquitted at trial but "not guilty" is not the same as innocent. I have no problem at all with his weirdness...his strange appearance because I defend people who are different and want to be who they want to be...however....during the criminal trial.....
as Torrid pointed out.....there was a legal search done of Neverland and I have serious objections to child pornography and those who own and distribute it....

This is why I don't support Wacko Jacko...because he blatantly according to court documents....possessed child pornography and if my neighbor was caught with child pornography or my co-worker....I wouldn't support them either...

Some of you are trying to insist it's ok because he sold all these records and was a great entertainer....not sure why you would even attempt to make that argument....to me those who sell....buy....distribute or manufacture child pornography are scum....end of story...no matter how many moonwalks they can do...

The site Torrid provided a link to....the smoking gun....is very accurate regarding legal cases.....they clearly have insiders in L.A.....

As part of the evidence at the criminal trial.... to show attraction to boys.......the prosecution introduced two books featuring nude prepubescent boys from Neverland. The books were seized from Jackson in 1993 and never returned....

Covers of pornographic magazines - including one called Barely Legal - were projected onto a screen in the courtroom as the brother of the accusor... alleged that Jackson showed off a collection of magazines he kept in a suitcase.

Let's get real here.....Thriller or no thriller.....superstar or not....no normal person needs to look at child pornography....tell me you disagree with that? ....let alone keep it in the house with underage boys.....

What evidence do you have the ''smoking gun'' is accurate.
What evidence do you have it has an insider in L.A?
Show me court docs of the info on Jackson then I'll consider boycotting him.
If he did have adult porn, it's his business it's legal.
Child porn is another matter, and I'd like court docs to provide me with that information before I supposedly believe that the smoking gun is ''accurate'' because someone claims it to be without giving any evidence to suggest so.
MJ, is wierd but I feel that is down to simply not having a childhood.
Yes, he hangs out with kids, but the boy from home alone who he used to hang out with, deined claims he abused him. If someone asks for a link I can gladly give it to you.

Whilst I recognise that personal drug use is a lesser offence than many of the others. George Micheal has been arrested for drugs possession after passing out at the wheel of his car and Pete Docherty for possession and car theft. I suspect it's only luck that neither of them has crashed and killed somebody whilst high. There are also loads of celebs that have been banned for drink driving, again it's only luck they didn't kill anybody. Docherty has also squirted a syringe at people and has been done for assault. The likes of Liam Gallagher, getting drunk and assaulting people backed up by their bodyguards or rappers carrying guns because they feel they're above the law, when really they're scum whose celebrity status provides them with privileges that should be forfeit for such actions.

I think it would depend on the crime. Things like Winona Ryder's shoplifting don't matter much to me; she was, rightly, taken to court and sentenced, but once the sentence is served, there's no need to hold it against her IMO.

Also, even with a violent offence, which I'd have a problem with, it would depend if it was a one-off or not. Cheryl Cole has never repeated that ugly little incident with the toilet attendant, whereas Naomi Campbell has a long record of aggressive outbursts. Therefore I'd boycott Naomi but not Cheryl.

Not trying to catch you out at all, don't be so paranoid. The fact is, I'm so interested in celebrity gossip, and I wondered perhaps if I had missed some amazing news about KW overnight that had made you turn from a fan into a non-fan. I don't know, perhaps he over-filled his wheelie-bin, or parked in a disabled bay without displaying his Blue Badge. And I knew you would be the best person to know, as you're such a font of all celebrity knowledge on this board. You're always first with the celebrity gossip!

I am really getting sick and tired of people defending Wacko Jacko....there is no defense and who cares if he was once a great entertainer?...how in God's name does that matter now? At least read all these links before you reply to this....because I am going to seriously ask all of you who defend him and worship him....how can you?

Do some research online on what was taken from Neverland prior to the criminal trial....and of course....it probably pales into comparision to what was moved out of there as they knew the search warrant was coming...

Since Diane was in the court room everyday of this trial....and covered it for CNN and COURT TV...I think you can trust this is real...

    http://www.courttv.com/news/jackson/012505_dimond_ctv.html

As part of the evidence to show attraction to boys, the prosecution introduced two books featuring nude prepubescent boys. The books were seized from Jackson in 1993 and never returned...... They were child erotica or pornography..... showing a sexual attraction to boys....or so the prosecution portrayed them....why the hell else would he have them?

One book, "The Boy: A photographic Essay"..... features many pictures of nude boys....... including some explicit pictures of genitalia.

In February of 2005....the Smoking gun somehow published the official and genuine pre-trial transcript of the grand jury....the court admitted it was real and wondered where they got it....the Grand Jury was a big secret with jurors often being snuck in under blankets...the court itself claims the SMOKING GUN got the real evidence....so how do you dispute that?

Now look at what some of the jurors thought after the criminal trial...

depends really i wouldnt support say someone who abused a child or something

its a grey area though cos with rnb you can pretty much boycott the whole genre due to crime cos they all work with each other sing produce etc. its like t.i. with gun crime you could boycott for that but then rihanna and justin have both had recent hits with him therefore supported and made money after he was found guilty so you could boycott them for that
