First of all, we’d like to again thank you and everyone out there for the amazing response to the debut Grand Theft Auto V trailer. We know that there are a ton of questions you all have about the game, including release date and lots else.
Right now, we are very hard at work on the game and are excited as well to show and tell you more as development progresses - expect that we'll be talking much more about GTAV starting at some point in a few months’ time.
Please hang tight until then and thank you all for your patience and support!
“Rockstar, I really can't wait for new information about the new GTA. And is it only in Los Santos or too in SF and LV?” - MatsvanStam
As we revealed in our announcement about the game being officially in full development, Grand Theft Auto V is set in the city of Los Santos and its surrounding hills, countryside and beaches – and it will be the largest and most ambitious open world game we’ve ever created…
I hope it's a 2012 release, but I wouldn't want a rushed release in time for Christmas. A delay would be annoying, but if it's necessary then we'll just have to wait.

I like the sound of that, give us something close the San Andreas in size and ambition and I will be happy.
In a perfect world this would launch early next year as a final swan song for the PS3 and 360 with new hardware coming later that year.

How can it get delayed when it's not got a release date ?
Well I think those of us who were anticipating a Summer release could well be in for a long wait until Oct/Nov when by the looks of it, and this is the impression I am getting now, is when it's going to be released.
It's a bit of a joke though - one GTA title on the whole life of the PS3 so far. Same with Resi Evil and Silent Hill.
There were so many for the PS2.
It makes you appreciate them a lot more though.
Out of Assassins Creed 3, Call of Duty 9 and GTA5 I know which I am most looking forward to and that is GTA5 largely due to the gap between releases.
Plus I would argue we have technically had 1.5 GTA games this generation as we had the Episodes of Liberty City which is close to the size of a full GTA story when considered together as a package.

I didnt appreciate my dust collector (GTA4) massive let down, not that bothered about GTA V yet, they will have to show a lot more in the trailers to get me as hyped as i was prior to 4

I'm surprised as well that there has only been one GTA game released so far. After GTA 4's 2008 release, I would have expected a sequel (not counting DLC), to be released by late 2010 or early 2011 at the latest.
Vice City was released a mere 12 months after GTA 3.

GTA4 lived up to the hype for me, I thought it was great.
It was good but not great in my opinion GTA games always over hyped and always difficult to live up to expectations. I try not to have any opinion until I play the game.
I though 4 was missing so much, not enough customisation, boring characters and missions, it looked ok but i though the map was uninspiring complete let down after the awesome SA
I really don't know what make of all that. So much detail and so much effort. Just does not make sense including all the personal information. He is breaking NDA and he is risking any future in the gaming industry. So I would be inclined to say fake.

That came from a user on GTAForums who's known for making up stuff, you got to admit though, he certainly put a lot of effort into his latest attempt.
If that is the case the guy has way to much time on his hands
You seriously would not believe the amount of "I know a guy, who knows a guy, who works at Rockstar" posts we have to go through, a lot of them do like write up huge articles, just goes to show how much passion they have in their wish lists for the game.
The latest confirmed news was that Multiplayer Crews from Max Payne 3 will be usable in Grand Theft Auto V, and the latest confirmed news outside of that is that Young Maylay (voice actor for CJ) has confirmed he's not involved with the game in any way or form.
I get the feeling it could be a 2013 release unfortunately. If it was due for release in 6 months time, Rockstar would have released more than a single teaser video by now.
Now another supposed leak. This time It's a CV. Says GTA 5 will release October 2012. Now it could of been edited, total fake. Now it has his number, name, email and reference emails so if this is fake best fake I've seen. I don't think he will getting a job in gaming industry any time soon. Now release could moved, could of been edited.
I don't know I just don't see GTA 5 coming out this year myself. with it being April and no information coming most likely to after MP3 is released end of may. So that put's us in June that gives then that only gives them about four months to get the hype going I just don't see it happening. Would awesome if they did manage getting it out this year.
Although im inclined to agree that its more than likely to be released between march - may 2013, i still do think that it could be released in October this year.
One reason why i think this is because of the first trailer. Why would Rockstar release a GTA 5 trailer 18 moths before the intended release? It just doesnt make sense to me.
If its release date was always set for between March - May 2013, then why not release the 1st trailer after MP3 was due to launch in March this year?!.... I think that Rockstars original plan was to release GTA 5 this year (Most likely October) but MP3 being put back to May has put a spanner in the works.
Obviously if Max Payne 3 had released in March as originally intended, we would know a lot more about GTA 5 now than we do, most likley would have had a 2nd trailer and a lot more information on the game. Rockstar however, want and need to push MP3 between now and its release in May to maximise its sales potential.
I still think there is a possibilty that we will see GTA 5 this year. Even once MP3 has launched, there is still a 4-6 month marketing window if the new GTA arrives late October, early November. Plus, if new information is released in June (Once MP3's launch is out of the way), there is always E3 just around the corner for a full GTA 5 blowout.
Fingers crossed we hear more soon and that we dont have to wait 12months to see the new GTA hit the stores!!

Hype = Let Down.

I think that's because you imagine how amazing the game is going to be and when it doesn't have stuff that you've envisioned then it's a letdown.
