Can I disable my touchpad?

I have a Dell laptop (Inspiron 15R) and a lot of the time when I type, my hand brushes the touchpad and the cursor moves, so I find I'm typing in the middle of a previous sentence. It's really aggravating!
There is actually a button on the keyboard that is supposed to disable it, but it doesn't work.

I think the setting is called 'palmtouch'.
Just google trackpad off software for many choices if you can't do it directly from PC.
If all that doesn't improve things then disable it.
The Synaptics touchpad device Settings are usually there in a tab in the mouse settings.
If not, I suggest you install the latest for the laptop..
