For me I would like a young, 20 something, jack the lad type. Someone who is very confident, funny and charming
I quite like the idea of having Aneurin Barnard play the doctor. He was amazing in We'll take Manhattan alongside Karen Gillian and think he could do it. He's young and fresh. I imagine him as being a loud, blunt and cocky while still being charming and likeable.

I think Geoffery Rush would make a good older doctor
It's a time loop, I think. Or all the other 999 threads on this subject have disappeared into a crack.
Chris Moyles
David Jason
Russell Crowe
Excellent choice.
Someone who is older - it is getting really difficult to equate the experience the doctor has and played by someone who is just 20.
Showing the things he has been through the last few years. Losing his best freinds, losing his wife and dealing with his past selves in the 50th. Two things must remain though his need for adventure and his desire to help/protect innocents from all forms of evil.
After all, he already has a rather distinctive hairstyle and will no doubt bring in the younger demographic that the show is apparently courting.
P.S. Just kidding!
Aren't you basically just asking for a younger David Tennant??
I strongly believe that the role of the Doctor mustn't get stereotyped or uniform. Selecting another young doctor straight after Matt Smith, and also a young charming type personality just like Tennant - it wouldn't be good.
An older, less charismatic, different doctor would be my preference. No particular actor in mind.
