Was not expecting much from this, was kind of getting bored with the current fad for 80's, over-the-top style action movies, with Sly, Arnie, Willis etc reliving past glories.

But I thoroughly enjoyed this. Yes, it is an 80's throwback not much of a story, plot holes galore, Arnie just doing what he always does...but ultimately, it entertains on it's own level.

It's saving grace for me was the sheer hell-for-leather action sequences and set pieces - namely involving weaponry, and some very cool cars driving fast as f**k.

Cars are featured heavily, particularly a very cool Corvette ZR1 and a red Chevy Camaro, which culminates in one of the films best action sequences, where they face off against each other through a cornfield.

Johny Knoxville also just happens to have a museum housing classic old weapons, like gatling guns, tommy guns, old war weapons of various types, so there is a lot of gunplay and shooting.

Essentially it becomes a sort of hybrid western/David vs Goliath with Arnie and his small band of deputies in his little town, taking on a bunch of druglods trying to aid their recently sprung from captivity boss to escape through their town and across the border.

Yes it's very cliched and somewhat dumb, but Arnie is playing more of a world-weary, older character, and for once keeps the usual silly quips to a minimum. The humour does not always work either, but it's just an entertaining, fun old-fashioned action movie.
