I'm surprised its taken so long for them to think of this. Would have opened up more scope for storylines a few series back.
There are quite few state boarding schools but it wouldn't have worked at Waterloo Road (version 1), of if they did they would've had to have them from the start.
Whatever it is it's certainly unrealistic. It'll be interesting to see what qualifications they will be offering, as some pupils who made the move will be half way through their GCSEs and A levels, so you'd assume they'll have to continue to study an English curriculum, yet most of their intake is from the local Scottish community, so I doubt they'd be doing anything other than the Scotttish qualifications.
Funnily enough, the curriculum is now part of the plot.:D

Interesting, but they still haven't explained how the curriculum is working there. I hope the benefactor isn't going to feature in every episode, flashing her cash and wanting to introduce some crazy new idea every week saying she'll pay for it.
Well it's certainly different from the original concept of Waterloo Road. Hope it doesn't go the same way that Grange Hill did when they started changing the concept.
Well it looks like I'll be gaining an hour each week from now on. This series looks like it will be the end of Waterloo Road for me. That was the worst, most foolish, most clichéd hour of television I've seen this week.
The characters in the last few series were already getting silly, but these were abysmal. The whole boarding school idea is ludicrous. The fantasy idea that some rich ex-pupil driving a Ferrari can keep 500-odd kids in school is idiotic.
The writing is trash. The dialogue is wooden and vacuous and most of the performances are wooden too. This series has run it's natural course, it needs the axe immediately to make room for something better.
I stopped watching Waterloo Road when Amanda Burton left, but tuned in to see how they would include the move, and I really liked it. It was very different, but I think it worked!
Laurie Brett is fantastic and I hope there's a long journey ahead for her rather than a breakdown in episode 3 then she's a recovered alcoholic.
The boarding house adds a great new dimension to the show. I didn't think I would like the episode but I really did.

Too many people with weird 'issues'.

Apparently there is a memorial featured in a future episode, think it's the 3rd episode.
