Looks like Del Toro showing Michael Bay how to do big robots correctly. Cannot wait.

    Hugely underwhelming.

Didn't sell it to me the way trailers are supposed to.

I have mixed feelings, but I think they are keeping a lot of it under wraps and teasing more than anything

If someone likes King Kong, Godzilla and Transformers, he should love this movie too :)

If it was Michael Bay, i'd be slightly hesitant, but this is Guillermo del Toro and it's most likely the film he left the Hobbit to do, so i'm certainly willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

    Dare say you're right.

Read a good piece on film marketing a while back which pointed out that despite all the fuss over 'teasers' and the like, the most important trailer is the very last one prior to a film's release. That's the one that's really got to get it right and give a clear indication of what's in store.

Trailer looked very underwhelming imo. The fact Del Toro is directing should be more interesting, but the trailer gave far too much away and still looked like Transformers: It Came from Beneath the Sea Edition

yeah, i certainly hope that is the case and agree it is often true

peep in this age i guess are so accustomed to be wowed and having their pulse pouded by great trailers, that sometimes, I think they are spoilt for choice though I must admit, as much as I was excited to see this and the trailer, despite the imagery and what not, I still felt, the power of the trailer, was a little lacking somewhere

I hope the scale thing is consistent though, as there is one shot in there, that looks highly odd

hope the 2nd and final trailer I presume is an improvement

Amazing...now that's how you use an oil tanker.

The sense of scale is stunning.

a vast improvement on the first trailer and the remixed one

those last scenes with the robot walking the streets and the oil tanker whack were awesome

wow .. just .. wow .. if this is released on the Imax in 3D then i'm there. I don't go out of my way to watch 3D films, but i'd make an exception for this.

Can you blame them though? A film about giant robots twatting things, only this time giant monsters instead of each other? There is a vague resemblance...

Now, that footage. I'm as big a fan of big dumb fun as the next guy, but PR isn't really doing anything for me so far. Too many murky night shots, which diffuse the action. And those pilots performing the actions which the robots follow is all a bit nintendo, and a bit wanky-nerdy.

But perhaps I'm wrong. We'll see.
