Saving to a memory stick

My cousin is trying to save her cv to a memory stick and, despite my giving her instructions on how to do this, she cannot manage it. She lives in another county, so I cannot do it for her. She has access to this forum, so any advice any poster can give her, she will see.
She operates google chrome, windows 7. To make it as easy as possible for her to understand - she is not exactly computer savvy - she has her word document open, displaying the cv; what does she do after inserting the usb memory stick?
Thanks. From us both.

The problems could be that it needs a drive letter assigning to it, it could be a read only demo stick, faulty usb stick, old machine that needs usb motherboard drivers and thats just for starters
Generally these sort of problems end up like war and peace in length when you have to explain everything in minute detail as whats a 2 second check for someone like me is about 10 lines of techno babble which might as well be in double dutch typed up in greek
Under no circumstance should she only save the file to the USB stick, as it will likely end in tears.
If you need to do stuff like this on a regular basis with friends and family, use a service like TeamViewer. You'll be able to take control of their PC and do it for them. It's not fun trying to give instructions over the phone to someone who can't grasp the basics of using a computer.
It might be helpful if you told us what instructions you gave her & what problems she had.

That's fine if someone has only been using a computer for a short while. Not so fine when they've been using a computer for ten years and still aren't sure which mouse button to click.
ps I didn't realise you knew my neighbour....
Oh aye, I wasn't really making fun of the OP's cousin.
I was just saying that you have to know the level of the person you are giving advice to. Otherwise you could either baffle or patronize.
