Philips TV gone loopy

Our 32pfl3605h/12 has gone loopy. Last night we were watching when the picture went, but left us with sound. This morning, it refused to let us do owt.
On initially turning the TV on, a little blue light comes on inside. This normally happens when the TV is turned onto standby. Then pressing the 'ON' button turns the light off.
This time, the blue light stays on for about 15 secs, then flickers slowly off.
Someone's already suggested the inverter, but ive not been able to find it.

Any ideas?

The inverter is an internal component. So unless you take the back off the telly you won't be able to find it. Though the Inverter is associated with the display panel and if that went you might have no pictures but sound may well continue OK.

I would not be surprised to find the power supply in the TV has died. A common failure is one or more capacitors failing. If you know what an electrolytic capacitor looks like then check any for where the top of the can is bulging outwards, they should be flat or slightly concave. Alternatively they can leak a gungy substance from the base. Either way the capacitor has had it and at the very least needs replacing.

Ther are other things that could have gone wrong but the PSU is a reasonable place to start looking for a fault. But only start poking about if you have the necessary knowledge and skill in electronic fault finding and repair.
