Is this Pink Floyd?

Back in 1987 I taped a Radio 1 rock show but they never gave out the titles - they just merged it into one long music show. I tried to tape it but my C60 ran out but I have some.

Something tells me it is Pink Floyd but SoundHound failed to find them. One track has a weird squeaker mixed with howling wind and elecronic noise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UyaHxzbGrI

and one is a more shimmering 70's rock sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw8KIh1JVk4

but apart from now wondering what the artists were I can't help but notice that Radio 1 was a bit more brave back in those days.

Thanks for any input - it would be nice to get the CD.

Thank you both. Why is this album not more well known? All they keep playing is Dark Side Of The Moon and I had that and thought it a bit dry - same with The Wall. Anyway I have it on order now from Amazon:)

For one thing its over 20 minutes long, if a long Floyd song is going to get played, its more likely to be Shine on you crazy diamond, which is to be fair, a much better song.

When Meddle was released they didn't really push the album much, its one of those concept albums which the fans and the critics loved but was never really suitable for radio play.

Meddle is one of those albums i keep expecting to be rereleased at some point, its brilliance was never fully appreciated and was always somewhat lost below their other material.

Personally i love it and am proud i still have it on vinyl :)

Meddle is a great album.. the only song I don't like is Seamus.

Although I have to say that in my opinion, their most underrated album has got to be The Final Cut. Pure Roger Waters... amazing.

Then again, it really is an album for the fans... others may find it too depressing.

and according to Google Play, I am a serious fan. Screenshot proof: http://i.imgur.com/uFR1zmd.png

Meddle is the start of a classic run of 5 albums IMO

    Meddle
    Dark Side Of The Moon
    Wish You Were Here
    Animals
    The Wall

There is a soundtrack album in between Meddle and Dark Side, called Obscured By Clouds. This is also a good album but not quite as good as the other 5.

Echoes is one of my favourite Floyd tracks (if not the favourite). At 23 minutes it's not exactly radio-friendly, though, and that odd, echoey, squealy middle section might put off a good few casual listeners. It's still a beautiful song, though, and caught the band at their transitional period post-Syd and just before Dark Side... and the enormous success that that would bring. It was also a time when their songs were still more collaborative, before Roger Waters took on more and more of the songwriting duties

Echoes is an amazing track, and it is worth getting the Live in Pompeii Dvd to see Floyd performing it live in the empty amphitheatre. An absolutely stunning rendition.

    Blimey. That's passed by quickly.

On a happier note, I'm going to see The Wall at Manchester tomorrow. Cant wait.:)

Saw The Wall last night, in what was the last performance of it in England.:(

What an incredible show it is. It really is like no other rock show, with incredible music, and a theatrical show to go with it.

It just flies by, and I'm glad I saw it for a second time, because there is too much to take in with one viewing.

For an album that old to get the kind of support Roger has had over the last three years just shows the power of it, and of him as a writer, and performer.

I cant see Roger taking on another major venture at his age, but thanks to him for giving us a chance to see this epic, and have a rest, you deserve it. :)
