Universal dvds on PS3

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I can't find a definite answer anywhere else.I've got a UK PS3 slim and have ordered a universal region free DVD from Australia. Will this work on my PS3 or have I wasted my money?

    Region Free DVDs will play on a PS3 or indeed any DVD player.

    The DVDs will play fine. The only exception to the rule would be if you were still using the crappy RCA cables that originally came in the box rather than HDMI the resulting picture would probably display in black and white due to the differing broadcast standards.

    Austrailia is PAL

    And PS3 will not output RGB for any video format annoyingly so HDMI required
