Fifa pre order question

My son is wanting the UE edition of Fifa 14 for Xmas. I believe this comes with weekly FUT gold pack for 24 weeks.
The game is out at the end of this month. My question is if I give this my son for Xmas what happens with the FUT packs that are realised between launch and Xmas day (around 8 assuming the first one is released around launch)
Will my son be able to download any missed ones all on Xmas day or does his 24 downloads start from the first time he plays the game??

I stopped playing for a few weeks and then went back into FUT and noticed i only had the 1 pack.
But i would assume it would be from when you first start playing FUT?
Best place to ask is EA on twitter or on their support website.
