My personal choice has to be Michelle McManus and that Eamon and Frankee farce.

All the number ones this year have been awful except Natasha Bedingfield and The Streets IMO

If i had to choose it would be either FURB or F IT or Cha Cha Slide

With the exception of LMC, Natasha Beddingfield, SHapeshifters and now Brian McFadden the number ones of 2004 have been truly dire. If pushed to choose I would pick Michelle McFatWhore and the Eamon/Frankee farce.

3 years ago when I ceased lift-sharing with two girls from work (where previously I was over exposed daily to stations like Radio One and local commercial stations playing the same crap over and over again 3 times a day) I made a pact with myself that I would make a concerted effort to avoid, at all costs, any exposure to commercial pop music via radio or TV. It is only during the last couple of months since Kerrang 105.2 FM was launched in the West Midlands area that I have listened to any recent crap released via the radio, this crap being in the form of bands like the Rasmus and god-awful hip-hop that for some obscure reason gets airplay on a rock station. So unfortunately (fortunately for myself, I suspect), I cannot contribute a nomination to this thread. It appears that my effort has paid off as I can honestly say I have never knowingly heard 99% of the songs listed in this thread. Thank god for Radio 4, 5 and evening talk radio.

I actually follow the top 40 chart on everyhit and BBC radio and practically every week i pull my braids out as I see the chart run down. Here is my list of the worst no 1s this year in order of "offensive-ness", 1 being the most offensive and 12 being the least offensive...and my comments.

1.Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl (once is bad enough, twice is just being greedy) :mad:

2. Eamon - F**k It (I Don't Want You Back)
Frankee - F.U.R.B. (F U Right Back)
(even people in hell shouldn't be subject to this kind of torture) :mad:

3.DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide (why is there another single coming out?)

4.Mario Winans featuring Enya & P Diddy - I Don't Wanna Know (I really really want to know... how he made it to number one)

5. Michelle - All This Time (too many sympathy voters and buyers)

6.Busted - Who's David? (****!, who is busted?)

6.Busted - Thunderbirds / 3AM (out of tune piece of shit)

To be fair to Peter Andre, it was Chris Moyles who made the push to get it re-released whilst he was in the jungle. And all the proceedings went to charity

Usher is a decent genuwine RnB artist and has been for many years. the rest is pop fused with RnB/dance crap which the 12 year old tweeny girls love.
also, i hate that usher "Yeah" track as it was played on every radio station and music channel non-stop!!

No. Because the very same people who whinge about the state of the British music charts are the very same people who haven't bought a single in umpteen years. Yet, despite this, they still think they have the right to whinge about the state of the charts (cf. people who whinge about the state of the country but don't get off their arse and vote).

And, for the record - McFly's Obviously is a great tune. If people could overlook (or not realise - see here) the fact that McFly are sell-out pop or whatever derogatory term you choose to use, they would appreciate it too.

I agree with everything cybergirl3 says too, and Toxic isn't too bad. Babycakes and that new one by Jo Jo are getting on my nerves now. That DJ Casper one looks/sounds just like the last one.

There has not been one decent song at number one this year yet, compared to last year where we had a diverse range of musical styles and groups.
