Trying to identify a film from the 80s (only know one scene in it)

I know this is incredibly vague but it was a film in the 80s and there is a man watching TV and on the TV there isa show like candid camera but a man knocks on people's doors and says 'Your wife/husband has died in a car crash' and then when they start crying, the man says 'Just kidding, you're on (the so and so) show' and then the family member starts laughing!!

I know it's a weird scene but I can't for the life of me remember the film.

    Sounds like the sketch they did taking the piss out of "Game for a Laugh" on Not the Nine O'Clock News.
