Got that dreaded RROD nonsense. Arse.
It's a few years old - one of those ones with removable hard drives. Don't know if they still do that or not.
Can anyone suggest any cheap places to get another? Not too fussed if its used.

As easy as that huh?
Yeah, dead easy.
As I'm sure you will already know, make sure you first access the prefabulated amulite base plate, and ensure it's surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings are in a direct line with the pentametric fan.
A handy tip: When reapplying the thermal paste, make sure the paste is a mixture of high S-value phenylhydrobenzamine and five percent reminative tetryliodohexamine, measured with the aid of your trusty metapolar refractive pilfrometer. If for some reason you don't have one of those, try Wicks or B&Q.
Once you've completed the task, simply check your six hydrocoptic marzul vanes are securing fitted to the ambaphascient lunar wain shaft, so as to ensure that future side fumbling is effectively prevented.
This happened to me once ... My GF at the time came running down stairs after hearing a blood curdling scream to see me on my knees in the living room. I was inconsolable, she just walked up to it turned it on and it worked fine ...she then casually walked away mumbling 'What was all that fuss about'
I then got an 80gb PS3 ages ago don't really game much now days mainly use it for blu ray but its still going fine unlike 360.
Is it really worth the risk of potentially burning your house down for sake of some extra time with a games console?
No it isn't. Which is why you would supervise it 100% of the time, and have a fire extinguisher handy.
I'm aware this is a bit of a rant, but there is too much of this 'not doing things that are the slightest bit dangerous' mentality in the modern world. People need to understand and learn to manage risk.

£100 quid for an 250GB Elite.....£95 for a Halo special edition...amongst others
Pretty sure you get a 12 month warranty with them

Do preowned consoles come with a guarantee?
Yes, the same 12-month guarantee that comes with new consoles
Cant complain about that
Yep! I'd just buy another rather than risk burning my house 2 the ground! ***thumbsup*** #commonsense
I really wanted to play Fifa and I thought was a risk worth taking. Besides it was my parents house and I think they have the necessary insurance and although I didnt have a fire extinguisher handy I did monitor the Xbox for most of the time.
I did go downstairs to watch Downton Abbey and if I smelt something burning I would have phoned the fire brigade.
It worked however and my repair was a lot quicker than waiting for Microsoft to have send me a returns label.
I hope to god you are being facetious........... you really think it was ok because your parents had insurance?? That you could potentially burn THEIR (nevermind you weren't paying for it) house down overnight, and possibly kill yourself and your family, so you could PLAY FIFA!!!
You could have bought a new one and been back home with it within the hour
Honestly! Some people!
iv done it and no fire, console worked. some people cant just go out and get another so things like this are seemingly worthwhile doing.
you are being a tad dramatic
In the future, I'd recommend just sticking two screw drivers in each of the back fans, that will do the same job.
Sorry guys, but you're all wrong.
Once the 360 overheats enough and reaches a certain temp, it will switch off power to the CPU and GPU. They won't just keep getting hotter. There is no risk. Calm down.
