Hmm..
A bit unfortunate the BBC showing a kid's programme with a Jimmy Savile character, the other morning.
But then if they will recycle twelve year old programmes without checking the content.

I am waiting to see the level of general public outrage before I decide to be outraged.
It's off the scale.
The articles scream: BUT THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
Although, with Saville that was the main part of the problem... ... ...
But it does demonstrate the culture where "stick anything on, at that time of the morning, it's only for kids" seems to be the practice.
Ah, there may not have been fatalities yet, but we don't know the long term effects. Look at all those kids who started with The Count on Sesame Street and are now totally hooked on The Twilight Saga.
Pfft... get a grip- it was unfortunate, but these things happen. I'm damn sure it would have gone straight over the pre-school audience's heads, even today.
When it was made, this would have just been a parent-amusing cultural reference to a personality whose heyday was- even then- twenty years past (2001 pre-schoolers wouldn't have known who he was). Even if they'd last "checked" it six months ago, it probably wouldn't have been seen as worthy of note in a content summary.
Easy to say that with hindsight *after* the scandal broke, but it's not like they showed a repeat of Jim'll Fix It, and while I'd expect them to vet old episodes of TOTP, expecting them to re-check every blooming programme for references is a bit OTT.
Some poor clutz will be designated to check 'em all.
"Grip?"
Get a grip yourself, I found it amusing.
But I don't doubt for a minute, someone is going through the rest of similar kids' programmes.
Dara O'Briain joked on Twitter about checking Mock the Week for Hugh Dennis saying "And the band was Shawaddywaddy" - if they do that, then Dave will have nothing left to show!
We actually had this on in the background , saw Max in the wig but didn't realise he was impersonating JS , Storm in a tea cup imo
Exactly, but significant enough in their opinion for the BBC to mention it on the news on the "red button" (that's where I saw it) and publish the number of complaints.
I'll make a confession, not that within the context, the outcome will make a blind bit of difference.
I'm quite happy to admit to not knowing or caring about the name of one naffin' BBC kid's programme or channel from another.

Must be considered a slow news day, or a case of the BBC "shouting before they got hit."
They don't get on anymore:p
I do think it would have been far more embarrassing if this had been on CBBC rather than CBeebies. It would have gone over the head of the viewers of the latter, but the target audience of CBBC was the age group Savile was abusing (allegedly).
This may be true, but in my experience, sadly, many kids of all ages will "watch anything."
Sadly, instead of laughing it off when their kiddie says "look at the funny man on the telly!" and leaving it at that, the reaction of some is to foam at the mouth and phone up the Daily Mail.
Thank you, I agree wholly. I have never complained about anything on the BBC and I don't think I ever will. I think people sit and watch TV all day waiting to be offended and ring up the Mail or OFCOM especially with the BBC.
Another point I want to make is I wonder how many complained who never even seen the show but complained after the BBC apologised or seen the reaction on twitter or on the news etc. This whole furore with the Tweenies repeat reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons where Ned Flanders goes through all the local TV in order to find something to complain about
Unfortunately this "laissez-faire" attitude gave rise to me including this as one of my "Laws of Television."
"Viewers get the standard of television they deserve."
If you continue to watch crap, that's what the networks will go on serving up.
