Fitting an SSD into a laptop

I have a Samsung laptop, similar to this one,

It's away to Samsung for repair to the battery. Before sending it off I restored it to factory settings. in the meantime I'm using an ultrabook with an SSD which is excellent - it just seems so much faster than the laptop despite having a slower processor etc.
So I'm wondering whether it would be a good idea to swap the HDD in the Samsung for a SSD and, if it's doable, the best way to go about it?

The drawback is that they are very expensive and available at tolerable prices only up to 256 GB.
If you can live with that then go for it. You will not regret it.
Whilst it is possible to clone your current hard disk then re-image it onto the new SSD it is generally considered preferable to re-install Windows and your apps from scratch.
You need to figure out how hard it is to get to the hard drive. With some laptops its much easier than others.
I personally would do it as I feel very much that the gains are worth the trouble.
Change settings in BIOS to achi before installing the SSD.
I would personally do a clean install of the OS at the same time.

Since the computer shipped with Windows 7, the BIOS is already set to AHCI.
