White Horses
Vision On (that haunting tune that was played in the Gallery segment)
The Vision On gallery music was Cavatina, a Shadow's instrumental. Also, the theme from White Horses, which was a sixties chart hit was quite hauntingly beautiful, in it's own way.

Was that Vision On gallery theme used later on in "Heartbeat" (Tony Hart as opposed to Aidensfield) as I do recall it used during the Viewer portraits or maybe the mind was playing tricks?

I'm pretty sure that theme was used in all series' that had Tony Hart and the Gallery,including "Take Hart" and "Hartbeat".
does anyone remember there was a kids drama on itv called "retrace" i believe thats what it was called. It was about a family who's mother had disappeared and they were trying to find her. I think they used to live on a boat but memories a bit scetchy. Anyone remember it? was it called retrace? I've looked all over but can seem to track it down?
-> Live and Kicking.
-> SMTV/CDUK.
-> Pokemon.
-> Grange Hill.
-> Art Attack.
-> Rugrats.
-> Sabrina the Teenage Witch. (One of my friends blamed that programme for them calling their cat Salem.)
And I'm sure there are plenty more that I'm forgetting (like the other shows they had during L&K/SMTV).
I loved that programme too. It is still on, but it's on the Disney Channel now with a different presenter. The Head's been replaced by a coconut tree and another bloke does the Big Art Attacks. In fact, on the new version of Art Attack, the presenter doesn't even do any of the artwork. He'll explain what to do, then it cuts to a pair of hands and a red jumper making the items with the presenter voicing over. It's aimed at younger kids now; so a lot of it is "Get a grown up to help you with this". Most of the Art Attacks have something to do with Disney (they own the format now).
Along with this, the coconut tree is incredibly annoying and unfunny, but I'm outside the target audience so I probably would find that. I noticed that on the really new ones, the presenter actually interacts with the coconut tree now, as opposed to the old version, where Neil never spoke to The Head.
The programme is all filmed in Argentina now, and the 'Big Artist' is actually Argentinian; his name's Alexiev Gandman, whose Big Art Attacks are as good as ever.
On the whole, though, I personally think that Art Attack isn't really Art Attack anymore. I recall another poster saying when the new version first started that Art Attack without Neil is 'like dinner without food', and they're right. EDIT:
Neil Buchanan actually has his own paintings out now, which you can see at his website: http://www.neilbuchanan.co.uk What with that and his rock band Marseille (http://www.marseilleonline.co.uk) I don't think we'll be seeing his return to Art Attack anytime soon. It'd be nice if I were wrong, though.

Sorry,don't mean to be contradictory but I'm afraid you're wrong about Cavatina being to tune for Vision On's gallery.
Here are the two to compare;

I was sure they used Cavatina at some point, in a Tony Hart show, whether it was Vision On or the other show he did, later in the 70s.
