I don't understand by what you mean by "receives the most channels" ? That is a function of the transmitter your aerial is pointing at, whether it is a main site with the full compliment of six multiplexes or a relay site with only three available.
Oh right.
So they don't make boxes that pick up 30 channels, and make others that pick up 500 channels ?
Why on earth would anyone do that?
Fair enough if there are pay to view channels on a particular broadcast platform to have restrictions on viewing channels that you do not subscribe to.
But why design a box that only picks up a few free to view channels when someone else makes one that gets them all at the same price? Doesn't make any sense.
Oh right.

I'd have thought that any box would pick up 500 channels. Provided there were 500 in existence, and they were being broadcast via your local transmitter.
It's no different to say, a radio in that respect. The number of stations a radio can pick up depends on the stations' strengths and which way the aerial's pointing.

Well, I don't know, do I !!
Like I said earlier, I don't know anything about them !

Any Freeview box will pick up what ever channels your aerial can pickup in your area.
Well, no, he would need a Freeview HD box for that
