Just a quick observation but i firmly believe the used to be large HD gap between Sky and Virgin is significantly reducing which is a credit to VM.
Sky stil have 65 channels compared to Virgins 45 but if you actually look at the difference in the 20 there is only around 10 that are significant to me
Sky sports 3 and 4 HD
Sky sports news HD
Sky news HD
E!HD (rumoured to be coming)
Disney HD
Disney Junior HD
Nickelodeon HD
Universal HD (rumoured to be coming)
Sky Atlantic HD (although i would take the SD channel first)
The rest of the HD with sky is not something i will really watch
Well done Virgin a few more HD and i think the Sky arguement disappears!!

There is a lot of HD channels that you are missing such as
Arise News HD and most significant the MGM Movie channel
Plus the rest of the News channels in HD like NHK World, RT (Russia Today), etc
And what about the rest of the Entertainment channels in HD like CI HD for example
I think you would want the MGM Movie channel if you are into movies
The OP was only listing the ones that interested him, so no,me didn't miss any, if they are not of interest.
Wouldn't mind the MGM Movies channel though; in either SD or HD
Sorry to be pedantic but, on Sky's website they say they have 68 HD channels not 65 HD channels. The full list of HD channels that Sky have that Virgin Media don't are:
Sky Atlantic HD
More 4 HD
Star Plus HD
History HD
Nat Geo Wild HD
Animal Planet HD
Sky Sports News HD
Disney Channel HD

Universal Channel HD
MTV HD
CI HD
E! HD
Sky News HD
Sky Sports 3 HD

They have made some great additions and are more on par with Sky HD regarding channels now.
I think it's pretty obvious the imminent removal of ESPN from XL has freed up funds for more channels.
Completly agree with you on this.
The bolded ones are what I want, anything else is a bonus.

Although you could be waiting until July , as it possible Sky have 3 year exclusive deal which means it would not expire until the end of June. Hopefully am wrong.
I sure VM have renewed their carriage agreement with Channel 4 - More 4 +1 launched , Film4 + 1 moved to M+ and Ch4 channels added to TV Anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if More 4 HD launches soon.
I personally don't care about HD, I only have the HD pack so I can Sky Sports F1 without having to pay for the full Sky Sports pack.
Probably a good reason for it no doubt - I just don't know what it is. Shame given some of the content they acquire.
I agree.
Sky have done that for two channels Sky atlantic and F1 in HD.
I bet they wanted F1 SD as exclusive as well but something somewhere told them there would be an uproar if there did.
same with Sky3D.
Yes they'll do anything to get people to switch to them.
VM's lineup is vastly improved. Hats off to them. it's now quite a contender to sky.
if you look at the list there's only a handful of channels we don't have (even in SD).
Haven't C4 jumped into bed with Sky? I thought they signed an exclusive deal for More4 HD?
and more exclusives again
We now have these two channels. So, here is a new list of HD channels that Sky have that Virgin Media don't:
Sky Atlantic HD

Universal Channel HD
MTV HD
CI HD
E! HD
Sky News HD
Sky Sports 3 HD
Sky Sports 4 HD
Sky Sports F1 HD
MGM HD

Other HD channels that are on UPC Ireland that VM don't have are
CI HD
Nat Geo Wild HD
MGM HD
Disney Channel HD
Disney XD HD
Sky Sports News HD
Sky News HD
ESPN America HD although it looking like that channel is going to close anyway.
Also, they're (I'm guessing) reallocating bandwidth used previously for the Olympic channels (24 HD, 24 SD).
Give me Universal HD and I'd be happy with Virgin's HD selection.
Thanks for that Martine..!! What an unusual way they do it - but it's available in HD so that's great - wish I'd thought to check out Demand 5 weeks ago, and like you hope this approach is used with Justified.
