I recorded the Film Classic "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy from Sky a while ago. Tonight my Wife sat down to watch it......IT WAS A PORNO FILM and NOT the Classic Film as advertised and described...........................everything, Synopsis and Info Bar showed it to be the Classic Film..............I am amazed...anyone else experience this?:eek:

You might get more responses though if you post this in the movie section or programming though... Not strictly a thread about sky.
I considered this as an appropriate place to Post as it is to do with Sky Programming. Will post also where you suggest.
Its on again tomorrow rated PG at 10pm on Sony also!
We were amazed as 15yr olds to watch this exact film in English GCSE classes
Was it the same film though (although a different version than advertised), or a completely different film, you don't make that clear in your posts?
/goes to sky guide to check for next showing/
Thought so, who runs Movies24, maybe an e-mail should be sent?

Now I see Movies24 being mentioned.
So it wasn't on a Sky channel then ?
I know it sounds pedantic, but just because one may have used a PVR supplied by Sky doesn't make it a Sky channel/film.
When you watch a show on a Sony TV you don't call it s Sony show, do you ?!?!
Well you have lost me in your logic. Sky Channel 327 is Movies24 ( Shows as such in SKY PLANNER )..................how in your opinion is this NOT a Sky Channel????
Using your logic how do YOU categorise receiving BBC1 on Freeview or Freesat???
These aren't porno films though (I think you have to see an awful lot more to class a film as porno), they are affectionately referred to as Adult films.
A general rule of thumb on Movies 24 and Movie For Men, if you're recording it after 10pm it is going to have some nookie in it!!!

Mark
Their's a contact page here for Movies 24 if you would like to send them some feedback.

I couldn't watch any version...although it was set to record the Sean Bean 1997 version it recorded a Porno Movie instead. Classification on Sky EPG is PG.
Never mind...I will get over it. Can always watch the TV with it switched OFF if I really feel like getting excited..!!
I Imagine it is to do with the Sky section for the discussion of sky as a company, hardware, software, channel launches, service, experiences etc, not for individual discussions on certain programmes or movies - there are different sections outside of the sky area for that.
Different geeks loiter in different forums
I get more upset seeing these people on medical programs upchucking over all and sundry when the program is supposed to be entertainment.
These days, quite young children get taught the facts of life at school and then get castigated for trying to do the practical behind the cycle sheds later.
It's a great pity that similar emphasis is not placed on providing the necessary advice on practical contraception at the same time.
I wonder why people get so worked up about these sorts of things, when you look round places like the National Gallery with all their alleged erotic paintings.
Apparently the largest collection of pornographic art is held under lock and key for the Vatican hierarchy to get their jollies from.
The sad thing is that most of these films with sex scenes in them are just detracting from the main storylines.
Nobody seems to realise that all this rubbish is just put in to get free publicity for what is probably not even a second-rate film.
Sorry SnowDrop ... I didn't mean to start a fight (and I freely concede that my point may perhaps be a teeny bit pedantic).
But Movies 24 is not a Sky channel.
To answer your second point first. BBC1 is a BBC channel, whether it appears on steam-driven analogue terrestrial, digital terrestrial (Freeview) or FTA digital satellite (Freesat). It's still a BBC channel even when you watch it on a Sky box on "Sky channel" 101. Which is kinda my whole point.
The "ownership" of a channel is not dependent upon which technology you choose to watch it via. I assume that you can watch BBC1 on a Virgin cable system ... but that doesn't make it a "Virgin channel".
There is a bit of confusion caused by the Sky EPG access system. It is easy to think that having a "Sky EPG" channel number means that it's a Sky channel. This confusion is however caused by the government (via the broadcasting regulation authorities). I'm sure that Sky would prefer to keep competitors (like Movies24) off their system - but the government won't allow them to exert that sort of control.
By law Sky must allow anyone who asks to have an EPG slot number. The price for a slot is even fixed by the government. Given their investment so far (billions) I'm sure that Sky would love to charge through the nose for every slot they give to their competitors (even to the point of pricing them out of competing at all). But that simply isn't allowed. You only need to look at all of the cheapo channels in existence to realise that a grid slot must cost peanuts. As well as several Movies24 type channels there are also a number of "God" channels and countless shopping and adult channels which must surely be run on a shoestring.
You question as to "how ... is this NOT a Sky Channel" has been answered by others. The channel is not owned or operated by Sky.
I don't know the precise details of this particular channel, but many non-Sky channels arrange their own uplinking and transponder space ... some don't even use the same transponders as Sky (and even if they did, the satellites aren't owned by Sky anyway - Sky just rent space on them like anyone else). The fact that one way of watching their broadcast is to click on the provided "link" (the EPG number) on a Sky box is really not relevant.
FWIW, a good way to "spot" a Sky owned channel is by the name. I think (but others can shoot me down) that currently all 100% Sky channels have "Sky" in the name.
And my Toshiba DVD Recorder connected to my Sky Box has gone "PHUTT".............DAMN and BLAST...!!
