Out 23rd August over here. Having read all of Cassandra Clare's books in this series, I'm really excited for the film. There was a lot of uproar online about whether or Jamie Campbell Bower was suitable for the role of Jace, but I think he suits him perfectly, at least what I've seen from the trailer.
Anyone else looking forward to this?

The sequel has been greenlit but it still wont happen unless the first film is a success
Interesting ds review here
I like how it focused on the action parts a lot and didn't get too soppy.
Lily Collins - one to watch....a rising star, mark my words.
Not one I would rush to see again, but I will probably watch the next one.
Considering how poorly it's been doing at the box office so far, I really wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a sequel.
Bit disappointed with this, I've recently read the book, and found it entertaining enough, even if it doesn't have an original idea or twist in sight. It's cliche after cliche, but a decent movie could still have been made with the source material.
There are some positives, Lily Collins is a very likeable lead, and very believable, and there are some great effects moments, one, the best bit of the movie, coming as Clary freezes the demons chasing them and they escape back past them, it's a fantastic visual moment, and it's frustrating that a film that can produce a great moment like that can't produce more of them.
The last few chapters in the book provide some twists, not great ones admittedly in the main, but the film does everything it can to blow them, by either revealing them far too early, or just not making more of it on screen.
Whereas Lily Collins was a great bit of casting, the rest of it is poor. Almost everyone else seems miscast, and Jace in particular could have been a compelling character, he's certainly far more cocky and interesting in the novel.
The set pieces and fights are dull and monotonous, and though there are some good one liners, they are all so po faced that they always take you by surprise. I was hoping for a more entertaining movie, I haven't read the next books yet, so don't know whether the next film has the chance to be any better.
7 out of 10 from me. I'm purchasing the next book today and hope this film does well enough for the sequel to go ahead.
I have to say, the first two books are my least favourites in the series, so I'm hoping the second film goes ahead. I want all the films
Apparently its not doing that well at the box office, I hope they don't cancel the next one in lew of this.
Apparently it's going ahead regardless, due to how advanced pre-production is. They hope to recoup the money by the end of its international run and DVD sales.
I believe filming is due to start in about 3 weeks time.
Oh good
I think it will end up doing reasonably well. I'm not the typical viewer of these films possibly, being 26 but myself and my mother who I dragged along with me both really liked it. Hopefully word will spread and it'll pick up a larger audience by the time the next movie comes out.
you mean the autumn
Haha sorry, I was just quoting it from the article.
Autumn, yes.
Just remember after Green Lantern was released, the studio was still going ahead with a sequel
I thought the casting was spot on I've followed Kevin Zegers for a few years now so was glad to see him get something mainstream - although the film was less popular than I thought it would be.

My cousin is gonna be disappointed- she really likes
the TMI books and the film (even though she complained
"They've changed Clary's hair from red to brown!")
Oh poor Lily Collins, will you ever make it big?
