Hi All. Anyone else noticed this. Partner had a message this morning saying he could use 50 meg of data per day & they'd taken £1!
He never uses it anyway. Eventually got through to the messenger service on the website & managed to get it stopped & a refund made.
All sounds a bit sneaky to me, I mean you can get a pretty good phone & package for £1 per day or £30 per month!

Sounds like they had an app or something that used the net - that would mean a £1 charge for the 50 meg and the message was telling you that. Don't think they are saying they are going to take £1 a day without telling you!
Agreed anyone who needs data is either on a contract sim only or whatever or buys an addon.
The message was to tell you that previously (when you used internet) it was £1 a day for up to 100Megabytes. Now when you use the internet it is £1 a day for up to 50 Megabytes. I think you may have gained the wrong interpretation.
The customer service person will have given you the £1 as a good will gesture (did they say something like on this occasion we can refund the £1). You'll probably find that internet has been disabled on the account?
They prefer to do this rather than get into an argument over a bit of internet use.
Depending on the phone and settings wifi often sleeps when shortly after the screen goes off. Then anything that uses background data will use the 2G or 3G data.
Never used to happen, so now I have to turn of data services on the phone.
I think it happens even if the phone automatically uses a data service and just uses only a sliver of data.
Personally I think this is wrong and it seems O2 are trying to take money without due course.
You don't expect to have a £1 taken off you just because the phone automatically does some thing that uses less than a couple of bytes to access the net. And certainly not on a daily basis.
You don't think o2 should charge you what it says in there T&Cs?
Yeah right, that's OK.
They should have a 1mb leeway at least.
They are taking £1 out each day if your phone uses even so much as a byte of data and it has only started to happen recently.
So something has changed and it is not the T & Cs.
No, always been like that.
If you use data you pay for it. Simple as that.
If you have an app that's taking data without you knowing then you need to sort that out but you can't expect o2 or any other mobile operator not to charge when you use their network for data.
No it hasn't always been like that or I wouldn't have said it was.
Anyway I've turned of 3G access now and it seem to be doing the job.
No way should people have to pay because the phone uses a byte of data by accident.
I have a PAYG deal with 500mb of data when you top up £10, and you keep the credit, but the trouble is it runs out after a month and then they start taking money from your credit if you don't top up again.
