Did you ever think to yourself, "Hey, Final Fantasy X and X-2 are good and all, but what they really need is another 30-minute cut-scene during the credits?" You're in luck!
According to the Japanese publication Shounen Jump (as translated by Siliconera), the upcoming HD remakes of FFX and FFX-2 (to be released on PS3 and Vita this fall) will come with a 30-minute cut-scene that plays over the compilation's credits—presumably at the end of FFX-2.
I reached out to Square Enix earlier today for confirmation/further details, and I'll update if I hear back from them. Hopefully they don't go all Harry Potter on us: if this scene is set in the distant future and Tidus and Yuna have a kid named Jecht Auron I'm gonna break my TV.

I'd say this is pretty likely, especially considering that it was mentioned at E3 that the voice actors came back to record some new stuff.

No its when I fell out of love with what once was my favourite gaming series. X was when it turned into a linear piece of shit and to this day it still is. HD shit is still shit.
Did you try 12? That's not really linear like X, all FF's are linear really, they just disguise it well. X was probably the first game to be so obvious about it.
It's nice that they are putting in some extra bit's, I can't wait to play it with trophies! Poor Killercloud will be gutted when he see's there is still no release date.
I am! I've just seen this and it's driving me crazy not knowing lol I really wish they'd hurry up with this game. I like the idea of a new ending though, I wonder what it'll be.
I want a release date as well, but to be honest i want the price of the Vita version more, i need to know how much i'll be paying for each game, also how will the ending work across two cards?
I'll admit i'm not the biggest fan of FFX-2 so i might not have all the facts, but i believe the secret ending for getting 100%
is (just in case)
I just hope that the 30 minutes includes as much if not more fan service than the Citadel DLC on Mass effect 3
It's not the most challenging game (far from it) which is good for gamers who just want a relaxing game yet with the customization options it allows hardcore gamers to have a challenge (level 1 runthrough in 12 hours anyone?) :P
Plus out of all the ps1 games, despite its 4 disc span, I believe graphically it would be the easiest to alter to hd
Fancy HD graphics are nothing without gameplay. I wish they would go back to their final fantasy roots.
Having said that, I've come to appreciate it a lot more since then. VI - IX were FF's golden age.
FFX is a magnificent game, although I never got far into X-2. The two things I loved about that game were blitzball and Lulu.
I stopped after 10, I honestly wouldn't call FF 7, 8 or 9 linear. You get the chance to explore the world. Yes there is a story to follow, but you can go at your own speed. 10 from memory had no exploration just place to place to place.
And when is it out?
If you think about it, they are all made up of just going from place to place, the world map made it feel more open, but you could rarely go somewhere that wasn't plot related until later in the game. I haven't played 7 in a while, but I think that game had more optional areas than 8 and 9 early on. Plus the towns were bigger in those games so there was more to do outside of cut scenes. If you compare them to western RPG's then I would call them pretty linear. I don't say that to criticise them at all, I prefer JRPG's to Western and 8 is my favourite game ever.
With 10, the world had been wrecked so the biggest 'city' to explore was Luca, all the other places were small so you literally went into a town, went to a shop, watched the cut scenes and your on your way, it fit the story but limited exploration, but you were still free to roam around. They also left out the world map because they thought having the character tower over cities would look silly in a more realistic looking game. So you get this corridor gameplay, which takes away any sense of openness (is openness a word?) I know it annoyed a lot of people, and I understand why, but I didn't mind, it's still one of my favourite games.
12 didn't have a world map either, but they had massive areas to explore between cities, so it did feel a lot more open, and almost as good as having a world map. I'm sure they will do a HD version of 12, i'd recommend it if 10 was too constricting exploration wise.
Im pretty sure in 7 8 9 you could venrure off the beaten path. Im certain I got lost a few times in all those games, especially 7. You could always if I remember venture into areas/enemies that you were too low a level to fight but could have a go anyway. 10 was just hand held all the way. Thats what I felt anyway.
I can't really comment on XII as I never really played it enough. X was more linear than the previous games but it was still a fantastic game IMO. XIII was probably the most linear of them all. I enjoyed the game, but it didn't really feel like a FF game to me, it was more like Star Ocean. Only towards the end when you got to the plains did it truly open up like the games of old, and only then until you start progressing the main game missions again.
10 was a pretty large game and had areas like that, remember the Al Bhed Desert? hell, you could spend like an hour wandering in either wrong Directions just to try and find the Dark Aeons!
Or the Chocobo fields that had a few cave areas hidden as well as a shrine to Yojimbo, etc.
I know what you mean, I know a few people who feel that way too. 10 definitely feels different to the others, maybe if it drops in price down the road you could try it again, it might not be as bad second time round. It has a great story if you can put aside the problems it has. Did you manage to finish it when you played it?
That would be terrible and would annoy many fans of the game.
surely an explanation of the ending would annoy people less then the ending itself
I'm seen so many people call bullshit on the secret ending the i genuinely can't see a way that presenting some clarity would result in people being more pissed off, let alone how it would be terrible to explain the biggest plot hole across the two games
As i said though i'm no expert so you can could
I guess I'll have to spoiler this too,
I'm going to have to pay more attention when i play the HD collection but didn't
so now all the work in the first game was for nothing as even after being freed the fayth didn't move on anyway
