Judge Dredd #13 Subscription Cover
My copy of Judge Dredd #13 has just arrived and the cover is a big white page, ie. no picture, no words, just big block of white.
Whats-up-with-that.

The idea being that you take it to a comic-con or a signing and get your artist of choice to do a sketch on the cover.
Do a google image search for "blank cover variant" and you'll get the idea.
since I don't go to any comic cons I've now got in my collection something that looks just plain stupid and cheap. Were I do be buying things via the compilations instead of monthly I'd save quite a few pounds, the only real +ve thing about monthly buying is the whole bunch of wondrously drawn covers. Having this stupid piece of nothing, well I don't quite know how to end that sentence but looking at it now just makes me want to switch to the compilations. Dammit.
Definately a learning experience here, next time when I'm pre-ordering my monthly lot of comics and see one with NO cover shown I won't assume they've just not got a picture of it, I'll be assuming it's another one of these crappy crap things and go looking for a different cover.
(methinks I'm going off to eBay a proper version of this months comic cos the one I have is a blot on my collection.
Blank variants are limited and, as such, have a higher re-sale value if you come to sell it on at a later date - shops like Travelling Man tend to separate out the blank editions and always sell them 'new' at higher than cover price.
If you ever actually went to a con, or a comic signing at a local shop, and got an artist to draw dredd on that cover and sign it - blammo! Even more value added to that edition.
ETA - bit of research and I found that the blank edition is '13B' and is a subscription variant. 13C is a beauty: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JUDGE-DREDD-13C-1-10-VARIANT-/141126707975?pt=UK_Books_Comics_Magazines_US_Comics_ET&hash=item20dbceab07
... both better than the main cover which, even though an homage to Kirby, looks tosh
