Its not that bad considering how long game development takes these days - its only 18 months away.

By the sounds of the way David Braben was talking in the BBC video, they already have a lot of the infrastructure in place.

Elite 2 was already released 19 years ago and it was excellent.

We really do need a great space faring RPG where you travel around getting into space fights, upgrading your ship, trading etc. I wonder why it's a genre which is so limited.

Looks interesting......although seems to be concentrated more on space action rather than a totally immersive universe (i.e. with planetfall).

Might keep an eye on it though - I quite liked freelancer.

Just saw this - and pledging.

It's also the first time I've seen a Kickstarter actually mentioned on British TV - there was a piece about it on BBC News channel the other day. Really hope the retro gamesplayers that played the original on BBC/Acorn and those of us who owned the game on Amiga and Atari are aware of the sequel!

I think I will pay the £40 to have my daughters names added to the game. It is a perfect Boyfriend test. If they are not impressed as hell, show em the door.

Whats even stranger is that, to the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been one set in the Star Wars universe.

I thought that as a kid, playing Elite on my Amiga. It would be immense, the story is so well known, races, politics, class of ships, weapons.

Looking for an affordable ship at a junkyard, finding your own Millennium Falcon. It would be awesome!

Elite was enthralling enough, but attach Star Wars to it ... blimey!

I'll still take Elite 4 though!

I think the two online RPGs are the closest they've got with Star Wars
