EuroGamer / EDGE: "Why the Wii U is the best next-gen choice this Christmas"

I don't quite agree with all the points in the articles, but its good to see some positive Wii U press. People are finally seeing the light.

Can't wait for SM3DWorld - just a shame it clashes with PS4 release!
I do think there’s been a more positive reception towards the Wii U since the second Super Mario 3D World trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLOKVABfrzw (not the first E3 one that made the game look terrible – the person responsible for editing that should be sacked!)
WiiU has a colourful game, therefore it's the console to buy .... I mean even if that reasoning was logical, he's ignoring Peggle 2, Zoo Tycoon, Knack and a few other games.
Fanboy writers.
WiiU DOES NOT have an amazing line up coming up.
It has Super Mario 3D World which will be amazing, but apart from that it has
Sonic Lost World (very poor reception so far)
Wii Party U (also very poor reception)
Wii Fit
Mario & Sonic Olympics
And a small handful of multiplats that will be on all other consoles and likely better.
I believe the term is covering your bets. This is such poor journalism in my opinion.
mario 3d land
game and wario
mario and sonic at the olympics
disney infinity and Rayman legends on 360 and of course the ps4 launch
plenty to be getting on with
There are more than three times as many positive reviews for Lost World on Metacritic as negative reviews, and more than eight times as many mixed or positive as negative reviews. Metacritic doesn't cite Japanese sources, but all four of Famitsu's reviewers rated Lost World 9/10. While Eurogamer UK scored Lost World 4/10, Eurogamer Italy gave it a 9/10, and Eurogamer Germany an 8/10. IGN US thought Lost World deserved a 5.8/10, but IGN Italy awarded it an 8/10. In general, foreign language sources like XGN have been far more favorable to the game than English-language sources. Even among English-language sources, Nintendo-specific and non-gaming publications are far more positive than the so-called "hardcore" gaming press: See Nintendo World Report (9/10), Digital Spy (4/5 "definitive Sonic experience"), and The Guardian (4/5 "approaches the quality of Nintendo EAD's best work"), for example. I have no doubt the hardcore Sonic fans will be satisfied.
There have always been suspicions in its 20 year life cycle that they are not susceptible to the odd bung here or there and they have always ALWAYS been guilty of bias toward Nintendo.
I agree it is the better option for now, but it's not really fair to compare the line-up of a console thats been for a year to a Xbox/PS4 that will only have been out a month by Christmas.
Read both articles, maybe I'm being horribly obtuse but all either said to me was: "there's a new Mario game coming out"
No you're being acute.
So hey, want to know the best console? All of them.
its because you cant see past your dualshock
me...i love all the platforms....
OK I take back what I said on Eurogamer about rather having Knack than Super Mario 3D World. That looks great, however is it the Mario game Wii U owners deserve? It's still based on a game that looks better suited to the 3DS.
I don't love anything unconditionally, I judge things based on merit and my own experience, whether it be games or platforms, I've owned exactly half of all Nintendo home consoles, and while I'd put SNES up there in the top-three of my all-time consoles, the older I've got the less Nintendo's staples (ie. Mario & Zelda) have engaged me.
I can see past my dualshock, I was waiting to see something worth buying from Nintendo, and for a while I was wavering, I was perfectly ready to be swayed towards a new Xbox, but neither has done enough, in my eyes, to make me switch platforms at this stage, and I don't have the money or time to be able to justify a second gaming box under my tv.
That's just my life though, and my opinion, neither is absolute or necessarily correct, but they're all I've got.
I'm very excited for Mario Kart 8 in the Spring, because I'm a long-time fan of the series and Nintendo always manage to bring something new to the series each time a new game is released.
I'm also looking forward to Call of Duty: Ghosts next week. I was pleasantly surprised how good Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was on the WiiU. Compared to the PS3, the graphics were much better and there was a hell of a lot less lagging and disconnecting. The online community was also large enough to ensure there was always a game to join, but small enough to feel "close-knit"; you'd often come across the same person over and over and eventually get to know their playing style. I have high hopes for Ghosts.
Super Mario 3D World looks very good, but I don't know whether I'll buy it or not.
In short, I think the future of the WiiU is brighter. I doubt it will ever be anywhere near as popular as the Xbox One or PS4, but equally I don't think it will go down in history as a total failure.
Yep apparently were all going to buy Mario even if we have no intention of buying this game.
Loved playing BlackOps2 on the WiiU!!! ... Never had a problem finding an online session & OffTVPlay was magnificent ... Will be getting a copy of Ghosts via Eshop! (Providing there's a digital release this year) ... Add me 2 ya friendlist if u haven't already! ... & like 99% of WiiU owners I'll be getting Mario3D on the 29th!
