what is the point of giving such a misleading name to a screen that is obviously not HD, other than to trick less knowledgeable customers into thinking they're buying HD?
even carphonewarehouse staff members are fooled into believing the phone had a HD display because of the name, as I found out the other day (although they could've been playing dumb to get the sales off me)
the phone's screen is not even 720p HD....

Phones have been advertised as qHD since 2009 maybe?
qHD stands for 'quarter HD' and has been in use for a number of years now.
Motorola, HTC and Sony have all used it before Samsung.
Yep my HTC Desire HD had a qHD Screen. It's not a bad type of screen but not great by today's standards. In 2009/that was a pretty good screen standard. Of course by now we got 720 and 1080p screens. it is a bit low to use on a mid range phone. The HTC one mini will feature a 720p screen.
The Desire HD was WVGA, it wasn't until the Sensation that HTC had a qHD screen.
Except that it didn't come into use until 2011.
I could have predicted your post before I read it how did I know you would find a way to shoehorn the one into there somehow.
What does it matter, it is still inferior to 720p and 1080p. We are in 2013 now, not 2011. 2 Years is a long time in tech, so why is it HTC can go with a 720p screen for their mid range phone and Samsung are offering a 2011 screen?
Well why not?? The HTC One mini is in the same league as the S4 mini. Or is it a sin to compare rival handsets in the same class?
Sad but not a surprise given the way you went on about the Z10.
Well in fairness a lot of public were at first as most people originally brought 720p TV's as they thought that was proper HD when full HD is 1080p. So in fairness if it worked for tv's sure it has worked with phones as well.
No not if done objectively but you do have a tendency to champion any phone you like or own beyond what is reasonable.
720p is still HD, the resolution just isn't as high as 1080p. 720. Is a llot better than SD. I don't think people were conned into buying 768 TV's as they were still HD. qHD is not HD at all.
Yes and how you always seem to get butt hurt everytime someone says something negative about a Samsung product. So horses for courses really.

True it is it was just an example I could think of that have made average customers confused so expect it could work on this principle to as qHD stands for quarter I think 720 is either half or 3/4 and 1080p is full.
Think or know?

Obviously it will sell for close to £200. The 4S is about twice the price. I certainly don't think of those buyers as 'stupid'.
Are we still talking about the s4 mini? I would like one for close to £200.
Just wait a few months. You may need to be a bit thick to pay the RRP
Is this going to be one of your "refurb" dels, because if not you will not get an S4 mini for "close to £200" in a few months.
You would have to be thick to believe that.
I'm really hoping it drops under £300 in the next few weeks
