He has quit the BBC eleven months before BT show their first Premier league match?

Good for him. Fantastic presenter and deserves every penny he gets.

Shame the BBC couldn't keep him, but at a time where BBC talent get ripped for earning what is considered obscene money it's no surprise they didn't try to keep him.

BT say he will help 'mould' their coverage and will present additional football programming. I wonder will we see Jake and guests walking around the stadium and behind the scenes like on the BBC's football coverage?

Got heavily slated on the London 2012 forum for his presenting in the velodrome during the Olympics.

He did ok but certainly didn't star. Seemed hell bent on upsetting Cavendish half the time.

Good for him. BBC should have given him the MOTD job however.

Never could warm to him. Always seemed to want to be too much of "one of the lads". All in house jokes and references, etc. Linekar's mini-me if you will.

Hopefully BT will make him grow up before going on screen for them.

Can think of plenty of presenters who would have left Cavendish sitting there mumbling away, would say Jake's efforts to coax articulate opinions out of him was one of the high points of the BBC's coverage.

He's a decent presenter, and a decent presenter should be able to present anything without knowing massive amounts, by asking the right questions of the right people. That's what he was very good at for the first year or so of the BBC's F1 coverage.

Unfortunately he fell into believing that he was part of the paddock and the "banter" that goes with it, at the expense of the coverage. Having Jordan alongside him did not help.

If Lee McKenzie wants the job and doesn't get it it will be a travesty.

Jamie Staff was hardly a bundle of joy either

x2. Really enjoyed the Canadian GP when it was Lee and DC presenting together.

Why not? It's more or less the Sky business model of being both a platform/service provider and a broadcaster.

Havn't BT plc recorded massive profits recently? they obviously have lots of accountants and industry experts in place to make sure the channel can survive and in time become profitable. They are not stupid, they probably know what they are doing.

You will find that Jake hasn't quit the BBC. He is a freelance, so he could work for any TV channel. The thread should have said that Jake Humphrey has quit BBC Sport programmes.

Decent enough choice, always thought he was better suited to F1 but nevertheless he's good enough

I might sound a bit facetious here, but how can presenting the Premier League be a lifelong ambition if it didn't exist before he was 14?

BT seriously seem to intend on being a big player.

Love it, high time BSkyB had some real competition.
