Recording Problems

Hi, I have a Hummy running the .08 software. In the past few days Ive been having alot of trouble getting the thing to record programmes either directly or through the schedule. For example last night I wanted to record Family Guy through the EPG. At the correct time the recording message popped up on screen as normal however, when ive looked at the playlist just now, nothing has recorded. Its the same for Neighbours which has also failed to record this afternoon.

The second problem i have is that i have just now pressed the record button whilst watching Sky News, and the recording banner stated the record times as being 00:26 - 00:35 and the iPlate says BBC2 is being recorded

Finally, Ive just went into the recorded programme list via the menu and i have something recorded dated 26/10 between 8:38 - 19:41 apparently lasting 61232730 mins called "gement LtdsmileTVsbds..." recorded from channel 11892. Clearly something very weird is going on since every time i press OK to delete this it wont disappear!

I really dont understand whats happening since as I say this problem has only just presented itself.

What can you advise I do, but that will not result in me losing recorded programmes. If I update the software via the website will the recorded programmes be ok?

Thanks for any help and tips

the first thing to do would be to reset to defaults. this should prompt a full rescan, the only thing you will lose is your timer settings and any specific setup paramaeters you've adjusted.

If that doesn't work an upgrade might work (and you won't lose recordings) but it is most likely that you will need to reformat to clear the problem, I hope the default reset works for you as that is the simplest option.

It sounds to me like a corrupted file system. If that is the case, the only fix is to watch stored programs ASAP and then reformat. By all means try a reset to default/ software upgrade but I seriously doubt they will help.

Well I reset to default settings, but all the programmes in the playlist menu disappeared, even though the HDD still said it was 15% full. Since I couldnt access any of the recorded programmes I made the decision just to reformat anyway, so Ive lost everything and fingers crossed it will now work
