That was a toughie, or seemed a toughie. When I first encountered it, I thought I'd never do that without getting hit once, and left it til the end of the game. When I did go back to it, I did it no problem. The only tricky bit to it is avoiding the rock spikes that rise up from the ground. Once you get used to where they're going to be, you can stay out of their way and get on with clobbering Bouldergeist.
The Purple Coin stars are probably the most challenging - one or two are seriously frustrating! I'm on 119 stars and Luigi's Purple Coins proved a right pain in the arse, so left it. Will probably go back to it and do it within a go or two, or may never actually finish the game! |

Bouldergeist is annoying. I've managed to knock out 2 of his arms on daredevil but still spazzed it up.
Only got 47 stars so far, my refelxes are not that good so I think I'm yet to get to the more annoying levels. |

Ooh Bouldergeist is a pain, but he's quite easy once you get into a sort of routine.
I'm still stuck on the purple comet on Toy Time Galaxy, I think I'm going to give up and play the nice, easy Eternal Darkness

The Bouldergeist daredevil comet was actually quite easy once I discovered that circling quite close to him was the key. I kept on keeping my distance and trying to tackle him, but it just wasn't working, so I closed up to him and did it!
The one I'm putting off doing is the Melty Molten daredevil comet. I've tried it a few times, but it's damn near impossible. It's the toughest one in the game thus far I reckon (I have about 105 stars). So I'm leaving it a while.... |

Some of the levels seem hard at first, but once you work it out they are pretty easy.
The ones that I am having most problems with are the purple coins. Some of those levels so far just seem impossible to do. |

However, I didn't find it the most annoying. I have a really low frustration tolerance and I hate repeating things. The levels that I found most annoying were the ones where you could spend 5 minutes getting close to the end of the level, and then either die or run out of time. For instance, the purple coins on the Gusty cube, or the speedy comet on Dusty Dune. With those levels I could spend ages getting close, and then have to repeat the whole thing again. Of course the daredevil comet on Melty Molten is the same (because the most dangerous part of the level is right at the end). The reason that "Luigi's Purple Coins" isn't as bad, is because I wouldn't have to repeat much when I made a mistake: Start jump jump fall die. Start jump jump jump fall die. Start jump fall die. (repeat endlessly). The only time it started to get annoying was when I would get close to the end and die. That's why I would always do the most tricky/risky stuff first (Basically go counter-clockwise and do those long jumps at the start). Then, if I hadn't screwed up after that point I was usually okay. If I did mess it up, then I wouldn't have to repeat much. However, "Luigi's Purple Coins" is great for replay value. I still go back and play it now. After seeing the guy on Youtube get all 150, I have something to aspire to (assuming I can somehow magically morph into a youthful teenager with the reflexes of a grey squirrel on Methamphetamine-laced espressos) ![]() It's sort of comforting to know that I will never be that good. Ever. Sometimes you watch a youtube walkthrough and think "that doesn't look to hard". When I watch that, my spirit gets crushed into little tiny star bits. My soul feels like a goomba that's just been butt-stomped. If I played non-stop for the rest of my life, I could never get 150 coins on that level. I'm okay with that now.

Well I went back to the last star last night (Luigi's Purple Coins) and did it in a couple of goes - did it comfortably, had around 120 coins. The only thing I did differently, was to take my time.
After that, I had to play the Bowser Boss level again to get the end credits again and open "Luigi's (Difficult) Mode". Luigi's skids can be quite annoying!

I totally agree about Bouldergeist, I think my wife (who is playing co-star) was about to leave me after 45 mins on that level. I was this close to throwing the wiimote in frustration. The one I can see myself getting angry with next is one of the ice levels with the comet, where you have to race the other mario.

You have to get every coin in that one.
It's not all bad, once you know where all the coins are and how to get them then it's fine, the only problem is if you get disorientated when you go to the underside of the platform or the top of the platform and you don't have a chance of getting some of the coins. |

The trick to that one, is you can actually take your time on some parts, and often biding your time will see the moving platforms re-appear allowing a limited backtrack to collect some you missed. Some parts of it, however, you can't make a mistake on.

Luigi's Purple coins, I haven't played Galaxy for about a month because I got so mad with that! I only have 21 stars left to get as well, but I know I'll have to do that bloody level at some point. :/
