HD Ready requirements HD-A via YPbP

Can someone confirm that a HD ready branded TV should support 720p and 1080i to via YPbPr (Red/Green/Blue phono)?

www.eicta.org/web/news/telecharger.php?iddoc=384

I have found this but need to be sure that I am reading in correctly.

My TV has a fault which causes signal dropping when veiwing 1080i. Been told the TV isn't compatible with 1080i via YPbPr HD-A. Although its stamped as HD Ready.

HD-Ready's minimum specification is simply 720p in wide aspect ratio.

If you read the HD Ready LICENSE AGREEMENT is says
Quote:
A display device has to cover the following requirements to be awarded the logo “HD ready”:
1.
Display, display engine

The minimum native resolution of the display or display engine is 720 physical lines in wide aspect ratio.
2.
Video Interfaces

The display device accepts HD input via:
o
Analogue YPbPr1, and
o
DVI or HDMI

HD capable inputs accept the following HD video formats:
o
1280x720 @ 50 and 60Hz progressive (“720p”), and
o
1920x1080 @ 50 and 60Hz interlaced (“1080i”)

The DVI or HDMI input supports content protection (HDCP)
The testing requirement also say
Quote:
Section 2 – Video interfaces and supported HD video formats
Section 2 – Part 1 – Analogue interface

The display device has at least 1 analogue component Y’Pb’Pr’ video interface in compliance with CEA-770.3 revision C or in a later backward compatible revision, with the notice that the connectors required may be available through common industry standard connectors directly on the display device or through an adaptor easily accessible to the consumer; and

The display device adequately supports via this analogue Y’Pb’Pr’ video interface each of the following HD video formats and timings:
1280 pixels x 720 lines @ 50 hertz progressive format (720p / 50 frames) as defined in SMPTE 296 revision M or in a later backward compatible revision

1280 pixels x 720 lines @ 60 hertz progressive format (720p / 60 frames) as defined in SMPTE 296 revision M or in a later backward compatible revision

1920 pixels x 1080 lines @ 50 hertz interlaced format (1080i / 50 fields) as defined in SMPTE 274 revision M or in a later backward compatible revision

1920 pixels x 1080 lines @ 60 hertz interlaced format (1080i / 60 fields) as defined in SMPTE 274 revision M or in a later backward compatible revision

A HD Ready badged display should accept upto 1080i50/60 on component either via a dedicated connector or multi-input connector, it's that simple.

If the shop is telling you the TV isn't upto the job the email the manufacturer and contact your local trading standards, there may be some ignorance rather than deliberate avoidance of responsibility.

it was a philips 32PF7520D/10.

TV has now been replaced as the repair company had caused even more damage.

The tv's rear case was scratched and chipped, side control buttons pcb damaged, remote scratched cracked, VGA input or controlling pcb damaged resulting in loss of all red in images. oh and it was collected on 22nd feb
