Samsung Audio out

Hi,
I have a Samsung LE40A559 TV, but I cant seem to get an output from the Audio out connections, (the red and white ones on the back)
I have plugged them into my amplifier, but there is nothing there.
Does any one else have this model that could enlighten me.
Thanks.

Yes I have,
They are output connections, I am currently using the Optical out, which is fine, but, I want to use this on my HD box (when I get one) and the only other output is the RCA stereo one, which as I say, doesnt seem to work.
I was just wondering if you need to disable something somewhere, Ive been through the TV menu but cant see anything significant.
Perhaps its just broken.

in this quick start manual it shows that if your connecting HDMI to DVI ( for a computer ) then you must use HDMI 2 at back of telly AND the phono plugs

maybe HDMI 2 switches it on?

I have an LE40M86 which is last years model, I seem to recall that in the menu if you have it set to output to the optical then it does not output to the phono's? in any event if you are going to connect your Sky HD via optical you will not need the TV sound output as obviously you will view TV via the HD box as it gives much higher quality than the SD freeview offering.

Hi,
There doesnt seem to be any option in the menus to choose the sound output source.
It seems to be at the optical port all the time, (unless there is an option in the menu for this, and I cant find it).

Fair enough for the HD box, but I may want to watch the inbuilt freeview, and will need a sound output source from the TV for this.
God this is getting confusing

sky HD has the ability of watch one record another so may not be a problem?

and most if not all on Sky anyway

and one of the scarts should be capable of outputs as well, so whatever your watching on the telly should send the sound out of it. Look for a circle with a double headed arrow on it/ meaning in and out

so get a scart to phono out

Have you checked for sure that you are using the Audio Out L & R (Next to the optical) ? as I note from the manual that it has Audio in L & R (next to the component phono's). both sets will be Red/White so could be an easy mistake.

If this is not the answer try this; Menu>Digital Menu>Enter>Setup>Audio Format>change from Bitstream to PCM
