Mp3 Hi-Fi with wireless speakers - do they exist?
We're currently changing our living room around. My wife wants to get rid of the speakers because of the unsightly cables so I've suggested a HiFi with wireless speakers. It would need to have an iPod docking station at least, but preferably an internal HDD. I'm not fussed about a CD player or DAB on this unit.
Does such a beast exist? I've had a look but couldn't find one. Any suggestions? |

Well unless you are into spending a fortune on batteries you won't get a truly wireless speaker. The link from HiFi to speaker may be wireless but it will still need some form of power to the amplifier in the speaker.
Which really means a mains cable, it would need a shed load of batteries to give you enough power so that really isn't a viable option. So if you've got to run mains wires to the speaker why not simply run speaker cable to a pair of unpowered speakers? Or did you think the few millionths of a watt of RF energy reaching the speaker would somehow be enough to make a noise all by itself?

There is a difference betweenbeing able to plug a speaker into an adjacent socket and snaking a cable round the room.

Ok how about this, I think I have managed to find you something?
Its 3 components A sony giga juke box 80gb hard drive £199 http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...k+Micro+System 80gb hard drive and a ipod connector And something such as this http://www.aspecttv.co.uk/Rocketfish...r-Unit/113.htm they are around £149 or get rid of the speaker son the hifi and use this instead plug the transmitter into the hifi and put the speakers where you want http://www.amazon.co.uk/Connected-Es...088489&sr=1-28 Going to be honest its cheaper to get a decent hifi and run cables under the carpet, get this http://www.richersounds.com/information/hifisystems Hifi system2 and look online for a hard drive juke box separate |
