There was a minor update (3.0.0 -> 3.0.1) a couple of weeks back to fix a security flaw. Not heard anything new though.

o2 are useless with these texts. I bought a 3GS to replace my 3G and 2 weeks later had a text telling me the 3GS was coming out !

No idea why some get such a long delay.

I think O2 are just late. I think they are referring to the 3.0.1 update because iTunes says I am up-to-date. From what I can remember it fixes an SMS vulnerability where a malicious SMS could have given root access to the phone or something.

Yes but in the txt it says somehting about improving roaming, anyway I think they are just late.

I seem to recall getting a carrier update file a few weeks back - perhaps that's what it is referring to? Maybe it updates the list of preferred roaming networks.

There is a new update, 3.1 that will be due at some point in the nearish future - it's been through a few beta builds now for developers so hopefully won't be too much longer. I think it mainly makes extra stuff available to developers so we probably won't see much difference from normal use - just more capability in apps.
