I can second that, my uncle worked on the set of Saving Private Ryan and said that Tom Hanks was so down to earth and friendly. He's my fave actor and like him even more knowing that he's a nice person in real life.

Another for Cilla!
My best pals Gran told us the best story that she worked very briefly in Wardrobe on one of her shows and was sacked for telling Cilla "if you speak to me like that again, I'll kick the s#!t out of you"! Hahahaha |

When I hear of an incident like that, I can't help wondering if the person approaching the 'rude' celeb might have come across as over familiar or taking the mickey, as well as if they are exaggerating the degree of rudeness of the celeb.

Doog is one of the nicest guys you could meet. He's an army bandsman and is an accomplished folk musician as well. He and his severely physically disabled wife are big fans of MM and have been to see him live a couple of times and he approached him to tell him how "great" he thought he was and this was the response he got. He said everyone else was top notch, MM stuck out like a sore thumb with his snotty attitude. |

Of course one could say that maybe he was having a bad night, or he didn't feel very well and couldn't be bothered, but there is such a thing as courtesy. Unfortunately far too many of these celebs seem to think that they are above such things once they get a bit of fame behind them. I have absolutely no reason to disbelieve your friend's experience at all. I find it rather disappointing, because MM does come over as a nice guy. Oh well...I still think he's funny though. Sorry to those who don't. Tony Hancock was a complete ass, but he was still a funny guy sometimes.

One of my Aunt's used to be a silver service waitress, did loads of Royal Variety Club dos back in the day. The one's I really remember were Tommy Cooper - lovely chap, took time to talk to the waiting staff and had them in hysterics, ditto Eric Morcombe, another lovely man. The one that I remember as being vile was Max Bygraves, horrible man by all accounts.

I've heard from several people that Caroline Flack (Gladiators token totty presenter) is a git, who doesn't have time for anyone that isn't famous or a member of the Royal Family.
On the other side, Richard Attenborough is very very nice, met him when I was a kid, he was a big fan of a book that my teacher wrote before he died, so came to visit our school just after Jurassic Park came out, he spent the day telling us all about dinosaurs

A musician friend was involved in Lulu's tour a few years ago and reported that she was an absolute cow to everyone backstage. Dunno how she is with the public though

My sister's friend met Gok Wan in a club in Liverpool one night, and went up to him and said "Hey Gok, sorry to bother you, but what do you think of my outfit?" (or something like that) and he just said "Sorry love it's my day off" and just turned his back on her.
I know he must get it all the time but politeness costs nothing. I was gutted because I love Gok on TV. |

Louisa Lytton (Beth from the Bill) was filming outside my work - she was a snotty little thing - right up herself, gary Lucy was there and was lovely (but im a bit biased) and was having photographs etc.
I have also met Jesse Wallace (kat from eastenders) when she was heavily pregnant, asked for autograph and when she asked my name and i replied she said she loved it and would consider it for the baby - although she didnt! - she really was lovely but her other half (forget his name, dave somethingorother i think) glared at me like i was about to murder her! came across as very jealous of her being recognised... james cracknell is also a lovely person and very very handsome!!! he had all the ladies swooning although when i see him now he comes across as a bit of a **** - fame seems to have changed him. |
