About Freeview+:

It will also automatically make alternate instance suggestions if your recordings clash and you run out of tuners.

Obviously how well this works is down to the accuracy of the EPG, series link and start/end data being broadcast.

Please note - the series link information between the two EPG types is not the same so you'll have to rebuild your planned recordings list.

Version 3.31 Pulled:

The good news is that we know what the problem was and have a fix in test already. This new build also includes fixes for the slow down in the menus/Guide etc some of you spotted and also for a boot problem some people reported. This is because - even as 3.31 went into final beta and release - we continue to work on the code to make it better.

So - we're now going into beta with the new release - and hope to deploy this to you shortly. Initial feedback on it is very good.

Finally: we're sorry to those of you who've had issues with your service because of this download. We're also pleased with the positive feedback that we've had with regard to the new features in this build.

regards,

Kieron.

News on software update to supercede version 2.99 on Thomson DTI-6300-xx

I appreciate this is frustrating and I won't commit to dates but I will say:

1. We are absolutely, 100%, working on providing a download that fixes a lot of the issues in the current code.

2. It will be available soon.

Further reassurances that not just enhancesments, but bugs will be addressed, and beta testing results are positive for the Thomson DTI-6300-xx model

Confirmation that the update for the Vestel based DTR's (Wharfedale, Luxor, Digihome, Bush, Sharp, Ferguson) is being worked on

It’s been a few months since this topic was updated but given the recent issues I have posted a few of the posts from TUTV that I can find. I know I have not got all of them.

On the release of 3.59 firmware

It fixes:
1. Glitching - providing you have a good aerial feed the box does not glitch or drop frames.
2. Trick mode jumping - this no longer happens.
3. Corrupt recordings hanging the library / crashing the box. If a corrupt recording occurs the box will play it and you can delete it normally if you wish.
4. Super-fast MHEG engine - all interactive services now load incredibly quickly and are very, very responsive.
5. New, faster file system. It's four times faster but, I'm afraid, you need for format your HDD to get the benefit of this. Once done - however - you'll find the performance of the box is far faster and smoother.
6. Freeview+ - we've implemented the Freeview 8 day EPG system. You can switch to this in the Customise DTR menu. If you do - you'll need to re-set all your planned recordings as the Freeview EPG uses different identifiers for series compared to the 14 day EPG.
7. We've improved the reliability of the boot process so we shouldn't see any more "ALOD"s.
8. Trick modes are smoother and much more responsive - even at 64x.

This build represents over a year's development effort and we hope you enjoy the improvement it brings to your TUTV TMM DTR.
regards,
Kieron.

On the ability to offload recordings to a DVD

The issue is - once you've played one of our recordings the box "forgets" to turn off the copy protection.
To work around this, either:
1. Watch a recording taken off air from a standard Freeview channel (e.g. BBC1) before attempting to play a recording for archiving and allow about 15 seconds for the copy protection to switch off (the driver is, for some reason) a little slow to respond to us telling it to shut off.
2. Reboot the box - the default behaviour is off.
We're tidying this up for the next download so this is a temporary state of affairs.

Kieron.

We are aware of the incident yesterday that affected some DTRs. We're still investigating and will give you an update as soon as we can. We will be posting an update on our website this morning as well.
In the meantime, please bear with us, and apologies to all those who's viewing has been affected.
Thanks

Update from TUTV on 4th May

Latest from TUTV

We are finding that some people are having success with reverting their software, but others are not.

If there is anyone out there that has done the reset fix to wipe their HDD and then experienced a recurrence of this problem, OR, anyone who has just seen the problem today even though they were using their box yesterday afternoon without issues, could you please post your experience on here?

Thanks
Sam

The latest (5th May) update from Sam on the ALOD issue

Kieron has posted the technical explanation elsewhere, so I won't cover that off. I'm sure he'll post an update on the investigation when he is able to.

The issue has only affected the Thomson DTi6300 DTRs. If your box has a solid amber light and is not responding, then you will need to do a hard disk format to resolve the issue. Full details of the fix are shown on our website or on many of the threads here.

For those that have found a software revert or a simple power cycle has resolved the issue. We have found that, in some cases, this has worked, but only temporarily. I have now had feedback from a large population of boxes, and from what we now know about the issue, we believe that the only permanent fix is the hard disk reformat.

For those who cannot get this fix to work. As you will see from a lot of posts on this forum, most people do eventually get the fix to work, but it can take patience and several attempts. This has indeed been our experience with customers outside of this forum also.

For those who's box has not been affected. This issue has not affected all of the DTi6300 DTRs, so if yours has not yet been affected, and you have been using it and it has downloaded Anytime programmes (If you're a customer), then that is a good indication that it will be alright. I'm afraid I can't guarantee that though.

If you really can't get the fix to work after many attempts, then please PM me your details and I can arrange for someone to contact you.

The call centre is indeed very busy right now, and the only information that they have to give you is shown here. I wouldn't recommend trying to contact them right now, as you will experience a long wait time. If you need any more assistance, then please contact me directly.

Finally. I really would like to apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused to you all. This has been a one-off technical issue that we have never seen anything similar to before, and we are still investigating the root cause.

Thanks
Sam Taylor
